*Official* Opening Match- England v New Zealand- October 5th, Ahmedabad

Moss

International Captain
Very forgettable stuff from Neesham with the ball today, needed better from him in the absence of one frontline bowler.

Still an excellent result for NZ with the attack they've chosen, Latham handled things quite brilliantly when Buttler and Root were threatening to run away with it. Though 282 is no cakewalk, not been as much of a belter as we thought it was.

You really have to wonder how Neesham makes this squad, let alone this team.
Because they need a guy to bowl 1 over with no warm up right at the end of the innings after they decide to bowl out all the specialists because they reckon they'll take all ten or they can't do basic maths. In the past few years I feel like this has happened a lot. He doesn't even get 2 or 3 on the trot leading into the 50th. And of course he gets tonked.

A hiding to nothing.

That said he bowled poorly early on anyway

Looks like there are about 20,000+ people in the stadium now.

Given that it has 130,000 capacity, can definitely see 15-20% occupancy now.

282 is achievable. Will be interested in how England's wrist spinners go on this wicket (esp as we didn't pick ours).

Very old-fashioned, middling score. Weird for this team, was sure we'd get bowled out at 222/7.

This bowling performance has done nothing to change my opinion that our first choice bowling attack should be
Henry
Boult
Santner
Sodhi/Ferguson
10 overs made up from Mitchell, Phillips, Rachin & Chapman.
