d'oh..............

I wonder who the hell i was thinking of then - i'm thinking of someone like Wilson bating with Cairns in a VB series in AUS v RSA & sharing something like a 75 run partnership for the 7th / 8th wicket at better than a run a ball, where both batsmen were hitting boundaries.................I had the impression that it was a newbie / debutant bowling allrounder type (b4 he did his ankle).......

oh well - must be senility setting in................
Shane Thompson? Hardly your fault really Anzac - both allrounders, similar era, similar hair!

i went to the ND game today, only about 30 spectators too!
nothing too impressive ND are 195/7 with two hamilton old boys players not out, hoping to reach 300+ :D
Why is Watling batting at #8?!

ND's not giving much credit to a guy who was making 50s and 100s more often than failures during the Lincoln warmups. I know he's got his keeping to consider, but that didn't stop Otago giving a teenage McCullum every chance with the bat.

Don't pretend you're something you're not, ND!

Both arrogant by all accounts...
Yes, true!

I'm still laughing at Wilson's "get out of my life, media!! But come and take exclusive pictures of my wedding, Women's Day" lament.

Yes, but you need to realise he only got married to squash the gay rumours! :D

i agree, he should of came in at 3, i would find it hard to dispute that BJ is actually the best batsman in the side, i hope he doesn't stay down there for much longer, he did make 37 aswell.

Haha Craig Cumming was out first ball of the match...Otago starting as they mean to go on for the season. But seriously i am personally quite gutted for him as he is my cousin but oh well hopefully he has a good dig in the second innings. Wilson due to come in next hopefully belts a few.

Wellington starting well.. I am guessing its quite a good track down there

Auckland almost certain to take first innings points and build a substantial lead and take control over ND.

Did I hear correctly on the radio this morning that Hayden Shaw has given up international hockey to concentrate on cricket?

yes, the canterbury coaches also said they reckon he can be a black cap in the near future aswell

I would highly doubt it. He looked fairly average the last time i saw him play though admitidly that was last year and on t.v

Did anyone hear John Mitchell in the commentary box around lunchtime in Hamilton?

He was going on how the All Black coaches wasted a few tests at the start of the year by not having Carter at 10 then. This coming from the guy who wouldn't even play Carter last year...

Haha classic stuff from Mitch. Easy for him to say that from his arm chair but i didn't hear him calling for Carter to play first five at the start of the international season...hindsight

be interesting to see how well M.Papps bats when he gets the chance to see if he can push his way into the nz squad for the tests and odi's against S.L

Typical start to the season for Otago - undoubtedly we will have a purple patch halfway through the four-day competition when we manage to draw a couple of matches, before it's back to business as usual.

If we win more than 4 matches in the one-dayers, I will be shocked, not to mention stunned.

yeah the otago team are one of the weaker one day sides, they need to find some consistent batsman, but of course you cannot just find them

Jamie How on fire for CD with Ross Taylor to come. Can't wait to see how he goes. Also hope to see Jeff Wilson star with the ball in that match
