Someone bought up the idea of Tigers playing out of Concord. Think it's a good move - has a lot more going for it than most grounds in Sydney.

Not dissimilar to leichardt though in terms of transport etc

There are more league juniors within a two km radius of the ground at Campbelltown than there are in all of the old Balmain area. Realistically, if that club wants to prosper, it's the Campbelltown area they need to be fostering as part of the club.

like n00fers said many around campbelltown just aren't really tigers supporters and it's just to ****ing far away from the clubs real supporter base around balmain and ashfield. remember wests campbelltown is no longer a stakeholder in the joint venture, it's balmain and ashfield now and thats where the large majority of the clubs fans are.

with the out of town teams thing, leichhardt and campbelltown are both lucky to get more than 1 out of town team and its for a good reason to, ANZ pays the club $100k for each of the home games they play there so understandably with that comes the right to choose the games they want which is obviously going to be the big games against other western sydney teams.

i agree with burgey that the club needs to focus on the local area in terms of local juniors but i don't think that necessarily means having to play home games in campbelltown, and when you consider the club actually has to pay 25k to the council to play there, with the current financial situation they're in theres not much use fostering local juniors if theres no club to play for.

If i was running the club i'd be looking at playing 10 games a year at ANZ and 2 at leichhardt on a sunday arvo so phil gould and ray warren can rub one out at the sight of a packed hill.

its campbelltown. if you allowed them to bring their bong in through the gate, the place would be packed.

have always hated the fact there are games played in campbelltown. From ashfield to campbelltown, ffs. everything wrong with league right there!

How so? Wests were never going to survive in Ashfield, just like the Jets were never going to survive in Newtown. Sydney isn't geographically suited to having a bunch of inner suburb teams drawing in support from the outer suburbs like Melbourne.

Do agree that the Tigers need some sort of geographic identity. Lets face it though, the real problem is that Homebush is a blight of a stadium that doesn't suit Rugby League in the slightest. Put a 50-70k rectangular Suncorp mk2 in that same spot and clubs like the Tigers, Dogs, Dragons, Eels could have a ground worthy of a blockbuster, and a heritage ground suitable for lower drawing games.

i feel like you should be allowed to play the ball if the tackle has been called before the bell goes

Can't believe there is no real discussion on the Storm/Dragons match in here. Just kill the thread already.

monday night games just suck, even though they always seem to come up with great finishes and i would bet that if someone was to do the stats, monday nights would get more golden point games than any other time slot, they still suck cause its monday night.

ffs the afl has an extra game each round but doesn't see the need for 2 friday night games or monday nights so no ****ing idea why the nrl still persist with them, theres nothing worse than your team playing on a monday and i feel for the teams who don't pull the big crowds or big tv numbers and get stuck with lots of monday games.

and another thing, finally the nrl is starting to get a good thing going with the roosters/dragons anzac game but now theyve decided its a good idea to milk it for all its worth and play 3 games on anzac day, so so stupid.

nah look, inner west best west
Nah ****. The thin veneer of inner city they have on their bogans isn't enough to cover the smug stench of unearned superiority they assumed when they dropped out of their elite private school to pursue an arts degree and a drug habit. They're only marginally better than the scum living at Mt Druitt by the sea or Australia's very own answer to Jersey Shore.

You can't take the tribalism out of Sydney and you shouldn't want it out of the NRL.

Suckyness of Monday nights aside, the Monday game is quite regularly the highest quality game of the weekend. 9 get the first two games for Friday nights, one of which will involve the Broncos (who haven't been a particularly interesting team to watch in a while), while the other can involve the wooden spooners as often as it can the premiers. Fox has no such parochial concerns, and routinely use the third pick to put on a quality game. The two best teams in recent history Manly and Melbourne have featured promiently.

Yeah because there was a crazy come from behind and controversial finish to the AFL games, wait no there wasn't.
Only just scraped through as most exciting finish of the weekend tbh.

Exciting finishes happen with reasonable regularity around here.

Just get people attending and people signing up as members and the sport can enter the top tier.
