**Official** NRL 2009 Thread

Why do commentators always think, as with the two refs, that a 'fast' game and fast play the ball makes for a good game? I hated the Super League style fast play the ball. It turned into touch footy. There should be a balance between getting rid of the wrestle, but a defender being able to finish their work.

I actually think the balance was good this weekend. The defenders were given enough time on the tackled player imo.

I was at the game last night and although it was a close game i didnt think it was a great game...
There were so many errors, by both teams..

Marshall honestly must think he signed with Rugby in Japan, kicking out on the full is NOT allowed in Rugby League Benji..

The Tuaki one was touch and go for me, at the ground i thought he was lucky and shouldve been penalised, but when i seen it on replay i thought it could have gone either way, and no matter what the call it was fairplay to him for playing to the whistle...

Gareth Ellis was awesome, he will be a massive hit for us and him and Heighno pairing in the 2nd row is as good as any in the NRL..

As for Canberra, they were better then i thought they would be, Campese is starting to win me over, at first i thought he would just be a bit of a flash in the pan but i will admit im taking more of a liking to him each week..

Very happy to get the 1st up win though, now for the Cowgirls and to continue our good record over them.

Ellis while great in attack I think people are getting carried away with his defence. His two big hits were on wingers. Maybe he should defend a bit closer to the ruck and I'll start taking him seriously.

Given the titans struggle to win away from home, I just have to go for the Dragons.
