Bennett was past his used by date at the Broncos, 21 years, 18 finals appearances, 6 premierships is a fair effort. We have a new generation coming through and I think it was a good time for someone else to be taking control.
Fair enough. You wont mind if I quote this post the next time you get pumped by 40 after the previously chronicly underachieving Dragons put 40 on the reigning premiers though will you?

Great start here for the offload kings of the NRL. Top 1st try there. Hayne heavily involved.

Now Fui crashes over as the juggernaut rolls on

Woo hoo - that's a good winfor the boys there.

Comms banging on about the players Melbourne were missing. Of course, Parra are really at full strength aren't they?

Nice stuff for Hindy on his 250th. WAG.

My tips are rooted this week. Although, except for the Panthers win it keeps positions 6-9 on the same points which is only a good thing for my team.

And the Manly win.

Roosters guaranteed of the the spoon now. Cronulla the only team they can possibly surpass and they're on the rise with a much much better points differential.

In unrelated news, we missed you at the sub districts AGM tonight.

I've been to enough of those Jimmy Noble inspired borefests.

Well just over halfway through the program...

After losing to Balmain in disapointing Fashion we improved against the Dogs only to go down 16-12. The boys showed plenty of improvement and things were looking up...

Against Group 6 on Saturday it was a very close game however we overcame them late to win 24-16.

Sunday's game against the Dragons was postponed and was played last night under lights...

The boys started slowly and the Dragons were making big in-roads in our defence, however we held them out. After 5 mins they had all the ball and posession but no points, then all of a sudden our left winger took an intercept on our own line and went 100m to score, all of a sudden flood gates open...

From that moment on we dominated them, Our forwards powering over the top of the dragons defence and our backs making use of the retreating line.. We ran out comfortable winners 36-6..

Things have definately turned around and now the boys have a little confidence who knows what they can do...

Day off today, then on again tomorrow against the Bunnies then the final game against the Panthers on Friday.

So far injuries have been kind, although we lost our Hooker in the dogs game to a torn hamstring.

I think you are missing the point, Bennett is still a great coach obviously but just for the Broncos it was time for a change.

It's not like he was actually getting stale or failing to deliver though; he was still doing an excellent job at the Broncs and wanted to keep coaching.

Personally think a lot of you Broncos fans just got bored TBH. :p

This. Change for changes sake isn't normally a good idea.

Think the writing had been on the wall for a while, sure he'd been doing a good job but it was never going to last forever. We have a new generation of players coming through like Winterstein, Hoffman, McGuire, Glenn, McCullough etc... and it was a good time to get a different coach to hopefully be there for the next 6 or 7 years, something I don't think Bennett was up for.

He didn't even throw any chairs last night. The lack of meeting procedure drives me insane though. Everyone talking over the top of each other...no-one knowing how to go about passing amendments. Gear grinding to say the least.

Geez its not the end of the world, every team loses like that sometimes just one of those things.
Overall though we just aren't that good, particuarly without Lockyer.
Have been fuming over this post all week, and over the trivialisation of our slump this year. So much so, that I launched myself into some research. lol

Until this season, we have never in our proud 21 year history conceded 40 points in a game more than once in a season. By damning contrast, this year it has happened FOUR times already. Over a wretched six game span, we have conceded an average of 36.1 points per match.

Put very simply, we have lost pride in our defensive line.

Read the next line, it basically sums up why we have conceeded a lot more points than normal, our team is just worse than it ever has been.

Don't know why you're all that surprised. Broncos has progressively lost their best props over the past couple of seasons, and have only replaced them with Joel Clinton. Brisbane does have a good record of bringing younger players through, but there was no chance you'd be able to cover that loss, especially considering the club tied up all it's money signing backs.

Yeah and again we lose the only shining light in the forwards Dave Taylor.

I couldn't comprehend the lose of Ben Hannant, he was worth so much to the club last year.

Michaels should be axed or demoted to the wing btw.
