Don't like everybody else taking Newcastle, doesn't feel right.

Sharks get Paul Aiton, Panthers get David Simmons  They really stitched us up in that bit of business. Can't believe that clutz is going to be in a Penrith shirt next year.

I was in hysterics when he dropped that ball against Souths. Guess the joke is on me

Sharks on the other hand, could have a pretty good list next year.

I hadn't heard SImmons is going to Panthers, that is funny.

Strange deal really as Panthers have a host of good backs already and Aiton has been great this year. Is Iosefa seen as the man to take over, or I wonder if Sammut has a chance of becoming a dummy half or even Romelo? Sammut might not seem obvious but I think it could work.

Cronulla have bought heaps of players, wonder where the signing of Aiton leaves John Morris. Thought Morris went to the Sharks for an opportunity to be a starting hooker.

Yeh I wonder if John Morris was aware they were chasing Aiton when he signed with them. I know Morris cops a lot of crap from fans but hes actually a decent hooker. Pretty **** everywhere else, I guess he could do a job coming off the bench but if I was a sharks fan I wouldnt want him playing anything other than 9.

Said the exact same thing over at the Panthers forums actually. He's quick, knows how to find a gap and has a good kicking game. Would also solve our problem of having two talented fullbacks fighting over the same position. Only concern is having Sammut in the middle of the defense. (though Aiton hardly covered himself in glory tackling Hindmarsh last week) He's one of the smallest guys in the league. He'd need to bulk up imo.

Still I think we'll end up with Iosefa and Romelo duking it out for the spot. It's a worry as neither are proven as far as the NRL goes.

The Simmons deal just baffles me. We're reportedly close to losing Daniela, whatever we offered Simmons should have been tacked onto Daniela's contract. We were also linked with Delaney who would have been a miles better signing.

I'm glad Manly have a few blokes out to SOO as well because I think we have more depth in the likes of Merrin, Pea, Green etc etc. Plus we have it with our backs - Lett, Stanley (he's going at years end though). It'll be a good match but I think we'll get home.

@ausage, yeah I agree with that completely. Guess Aiton's going to the Sharks for the money, I don't know how many years contracts Panthers young guns are on but they'll definitely want to extend the contracts of Graham and Walsh.

Also, I was thinking it would be fun to do some sort of CW NRL battle/or rank the NRL players type thing, anyone else keen?

NZ a risk, but Canterbury have heaps of players out this time. Also risky to tip a Manly loss, but again, they have heaps of players out and St George >>>>> Canberra.

2011 for Jennings, Walsh, Coote and Grant. I think that's the same for Graham and Sammut but might be wrong there. They're not off contract this year at least.

As to an NRL battle I'd like to see it, but how would you compare players like, say Civoneciva and Slater?

Battle by position IMO

Props vs Props
Back rowers vs Backrowers
Half backs v half backs
five8 v five 8
centres v centres
wing v wing
fullback v fullback

just us ethe regular starters/nechies for each each team and go from there.

Yeah good idea - we could do it like the AFL one where we vote on Fullbacks first and then wingers, I have a feeling that this could end up being a team full of QLDers :P

Thought Delaney was still linked to Penrith?
