Let's see who can get closest to the team they will pick (not necessarily the one we would pick).

Team I think they will pick:

Churchill
Irvine
Gasnier
Langlands
Grothe
Lewis
Johns
Raper
Provan
McCarthy
Beetson
Walters
Lazarus
Res: Fulton, Messenger, Sattler, Coote.

BTW, found the bench very difficult - more so than most positions. Depends on if they go with 2 backs & 2 forwards, or do it the modern way with 3 or even 4 forwards.

agree with that team except Harold Horder or Brian Bevan will be on the wing instead of Grothe.

Aussie hard men team (do not have to be internationals):

Churchill (when you hear what the Poms and Frogs did to him in tests, he was damn tough)
Bevan
Fulton
Peter Dimond
Warren Boland
Poppa Clay
T Raudonikis
Terry Randall
Les Davidson
Les Boyd
Kevin Ryan
Noel Kelly
John Sattler

Bench: Greg Dowling, Steve Roach, Keith Holman, Ted Goodwin.

If anyone would come out of the sheds to face them, it might be this international side:

Puig Aubert
Billy Boston
Ellery Hanley
(can't think of a centre atm)
Des Drummond
Olsen Filipina
Tommy Bishop
Vince Kauralias
Brian McTigue
Malcolm Reilly
Mark Broadhurst (not a hooker, but it will be an 80 minute fight anyway)
Frank Foster
Reserves: Kurt Sorenson, Kevin Tamati, Roger Milward, Alex Murphy

Gee it didn't take the Roosters long to get rid of Danny Nutley. My question, why not do it at the end of the season? Still it is a lucky pick up for Cronulla who are basically running out of forwards now that Lance Thompson has had to retire.

Anyhow, the Broncos are going to have to pull out the big bucks to get Craig Bellamy after he was offered a $2.2m over 4 years.

Guessing there may have been salary cap issues around Nutley. Although the word from the Roosters is that it was "a mutual agreement so that he could retire from the game gracefully" as they didn't think he'd crack FG this year.

Hopefully Bellamy stays with the Storm, I want to enjoy at least 1 season of watching Brisbane suffer (which they will do without Bennett or Bellamy imo)

Yeah pretty sure Nutley asked to move to Sharks and Roosters let him as he had little to no chance of making FG unless they had heaps of injuries.

cant believe noel kelly was picked at hooker, meninga in front of Langlands and Fulton is a bit of a joke too. Johns was always going to be picked (stupid media influence), hard to argue with the rest.

Agree re. Kelly - thought Walsh or Walters for the hooking role.

I suppose Mal did go on 4 Roo tours, twice as skipper. Stil, he couldn't get a game ahead of Kenny & Miles in 86. Would have had Langlands there, even S Rogers, before Mal.

Cant argue with Mal's achievements, however Langlands or Fulton should be there as immortals.
