Hopoate grew up in Macquarie Fields didn't he?In theory Hopoate replaced Steve Bell in the senior list, interms of the salary cap. Will play the first two seasons in U20s and maybe some NSW Cup atleast. If anyone would be pissed about his signing it would be Bani and David Williams as his money likely to cut from their potential increase and basically they been told they are short term fixes before some 15 yo comes through. It likely Menzies and Luke Williams will get released or retire if we can't keep Bryant and co.
Reckon he is well worth the money tbh, the guy is just gun. Whoever still thinks we can't produce youth players can **** off. Hopoate, Cuthbertson, Mauro, Watmough and King ftw. Two St Pauls boys to boot.
Hayne didn't take a pay cut, but his upgrade was less than he could have gotten elsewhere, he most certainly will not be on less next year than he gets in 2008.Heard Hayne took a pay cut so they could keep Inu. Mind you they are very good mates though, so such a thing is not a problem.
It sounds good...but Melbourne tap into QLD juniors without even being in the same state. It'd be nice if everyone on the coast got behind the Rabbitohs...as far as getting bigger crowds...well...that'd be nice too. But if they're still dead last at the end of a season I'm not sure it'll make any difference where they play. They get the central coast juniors, ready built fan base, a good stadium, they'd get bigger crowds due to more promotion and being a one city team. Thats even before the financial benefits the NRL have offered clubs that want to relocate.
I think having a local team for juniors to want to play for would help as well. Its a case anywhere, kids in Brisbane want to play for the Broncos, kids in Newcastle want to play for the Knights, it gives them something to dream about. Central coast has produced a lot of good players and it would benefit everyone to have a team there. I dont care if its Souths or not tbh, but imo thats their best chance of long term survival. It sounds good...but Melbourne tap into QLD juniors without even being in the same state. No Harbord.Hopoate grew up in Macquarie Fields didn't he?
Mind you, Manly is Campbelltown by the Sea.
Menzies already pulled the plug on his career.Menzies will go around again in 09 imo.
Also with the signing of Tony Williams I guess there is only room in the team for one of Bani and David Williams.
