It's a worry if this is how much research the Australian selectors do:

foxsports.com.au said:
Australian and Queensland selector Des Morris said the decision to call Cronk into the Kangaroos squad ahead of Prince was not a black mark against the Gold Coast playmaker...

"Scott is still very much in our discussions," Morris said. (Referring to QLD selection)

He's one of the form players of the competition and he's just unlucky because there really wasn't time to work a player in and Cronk played in the last Test.

"Cronk has also been playing very well for Manly."

Wasn't being fully serious TBH, but I was to an extent. Got the responce I wanted.

But really I don't see why it is such a surprise that Conk got called on stand by. Even though Prince has been in brillant form and probably the form of his career. In the last month or so Conk, been in brillant form as well. Even if you don't consider the combinations and short time in camp. There are probably other factors that impacted on the selection table. I think you will find there is a lot of people including the selectors that feel Conk is a better rep halfback then Prince.

Conk probably your best example of modern day halfback. Hardly ever makes a mistake during the game. Which is seemingly what current coaches want, especially someone like Ricky Stuart. He does have all the tricks of trade like any other halfback, but not as flashy as Prince or Thurston. But he is a lot easier to build a game plan around and build a side around, especially with your average over anaylsing coach.

In teams like Australia, Storm and maybe even Queensland, where you have so many other point scoring options. A player like Conk is sometimes better then someone like Prince. If your picking a halfback for team that requires someone to be able to do something special to win you games, then someone like Prince is better.

It wouldn't surprise me if Conk gets selected over Prince for Queensland either and if it happens it is probably a sign of where modern football is going.

There's a freaky amount of looove for Gold Coast players on this forum.

You'd think Prince and LaFrank were on the cusp of being inducted into the Immortals.

They're good players, yes. Deserving of Aussie colours? Arguably.
Agree GC players are being over rated but Prince is better than Cronk and Laffranchi, well you just have to look at his numbers.

Quick prediction on the Test.

If Aus win, it'll be by 20+. MoM = The Gaz

If NZ win, it'll be by 10. MoM = SBW

Going for NZ, but think Aus will do us over.

What a joke the ticket prices are. For a family of four the cheapest seats are $85, andthat is not including transport or food and drink as well. Do they not want people to attend, not everybody has $100 bills in the wallet where they can pull it out and roll it up and use it to light expensive cigars with.

So instead of 20,000 people, if they dropped it a bit more then you would have a lot more people there instead.

I will be supporting the Kiwis and I think the SBW factor will do a lot to make us more competitive, it will also lift the guys mentally aswell. Wane Bennets influence will also help and out defence will have improved but Australia should be too good just coz of their raw talent over us.

My tip: Australia 30 New Zealand 16

Mate I reckon $85 for four people is a pretty damn good price to see the best players in the world- considering an adult has to shell out over $50 for even the worst Origin ticket.
