**Official** New Zealand v Pakistan in UAE

Just when your calls for him to be dropped got loudest he came back into form and scored his first century against a top eight nation. You did well at the anti-jinx. :p
All part of the plan

But it's good to see him play well tbh, hopefully he keeps this form up in the test series.

Gun innings by Aamer, thrilling match.

The commentary in this thread, though, have been just about the most rotten I have seen on this forum.

Aamer played ok. but really it should have been a 75 run win for the kiwis.

atleast this win confirms we are the no 3 team in the world now after Aus and SA.

Really don't know what to say about this match...

I'm pleased that we won, obviously, but that's qualified by some glaring weaknesses in the way we played and the fact that Pakistan going into the last over should probably have won. Looked at the scorecard this morning and could only think "how the **** did that happen??". In some ways this last match sums up well a series between two teams capable of going from excellent to awful and back in the space of a match, or today a few times within a match.

I'm going to ignore the negatives and frustrations for an NZ fan from this match, as they're just a headache and half of them should be fixed when other players return from injury. Instead, can say the good things were:
- McCullum scoring runs, obviously. YAAAAYYYY!!
- Southee coming back really well.
- Oram's bowling continuing to be good. Shouldn't bat higher than 8 though.
- Vettori doing a decent job at 6. We will need a good hitter at 7 though.

Well done to Aamir and Ajmal for Pakistan - hopefully they'll be managed well and will form a good core of the team for years to come. It should be a really good test series in NZ, no doubt with plenty of ups and downs for both sides - the one to implode least wins!

Shame on Pakistani middle order. Younis needs to pull up his socks..if he cant score runs, I am not sure what he should be doing in the team.
Mohammad Yousuf is the best Pakistani batsman, he should have been in the team and Pakistan should have opened with Kamran Akmal with Salman Butt..
Once again, the bowlers did their job, its the pathetic batting performance that let them down. If they are going to bat like this, forget about even a decent performance in Australia, they will even lose the test series in New Zealand

Faisal1985, please stop avoiding the filter in your posts. Have seen at least two posts from you during the game that did so.

Really? How come?
While there has been some great posting in this thread, the trend of sticking the knife into the team or players that you support at the first sign of a problem is tiresome and makes for really ugly reading.

The lack of ability to read the spinners and our woeful playing of them is not a problem that will be fixed overnight.

Anyway, for the next ODI, whenever that may be:

McCullum
Ryder
Guptill
Taylor
Elliott
Styris
Vettori
Oram
Mills
Bond
Southee/Tuffey/N. McCullum

Styris and Oram down the order should provide some kind of hitting.

But still they are lot stronger than likes of SL, PAK, NZ, WI or ENG
don't be ridiculous ok. india are only good on flat tracks at home in dead rubbers. when was the last time india made it to a second round in a world championship?
