Fair - didn't make the cut last season but since we're being stats-obsessed he was good in the 20/21 Super Smash. So were Clarkson and Fletcher, pleasingly.

Speaking of T20 stats though, Santner being up there last season when he has nose bleeds at 7 for NZ does put all these numbers in a different light.

Btw Dylan Cleaver impressed me a lot in the Ireland/Netherlands series albeit weaker opposition, & looked a more talented T20 option than his cousin. If Neesh continues to fail, he's not the worst replacement at 5 or 6, and he can take the gloves where he is more proficient than Conway.

Not at T20I level if that's what you mean as opposed to domestic T20.
You only need to compare him to other no.7 T20I bats and he's one of the weakest across the top tier teams.

Wade can be a match-winner on his day which he's proved on a number of occasions, and most definitely a better T20 bat than Santner.
I haven't checked, but I'm guessing a deep dive into Santner's T20I batting record would show he does okay against weak opposition only.
Plus he dots up way too much for a 7 & furthermore I'll never forgive him for ducking the last ball of our batting innings in the '19 WC final.

Agree with that, and all the more reason to want someone who can hit from the get-go & not dot up when there's only 10 balls or so left.
