I just came here to tell you all I insisted my man Colin would be able to cope, nay dominate Sri Lanka's spinners. He brutalises left-arm orthodox and offies without major variation.

My argument against you of "Akila will trouble him but he'll have no issues with the rest" doesn't look all that bad in hindsight either tbf given Akila didn't play.

Kinda glad that Ferguson got an annoying little injury that'll force him to miss this series and rest up for another month.

The guy who took 22 Super Smash wickets at 12 last season should be there. Unless he's injured.
Weird how the third top wicket-taker Tickner (16 at 15.9) couldn’t make the squad either, particularly as he played well and impressed in the one match he did manage to get last season.

Almost like there’s no logic to the selections at all.

But agree I’m also happy about the Ferguson broken thumb.

Wouldn't expect to win being 30 something for 2 after 7 overs chasing 175. I see Taylor got the slog sweep going - his T20 game has had a resurgence after completely losing the ability to score at high SR for a few years.

Mitchell proving to be a surprisingly effective T20 player in the cast of the traditional NZ allrounder - hit good, bowl slow.

Yeah. I know they don't see it this way but I'm all for T20 being a gateway to international cricket. Rance is of no value in any other format. Jamieson definitely will be, and Tickner could be.

Rance is clearly there as a finisher and someone who might swing it up front, but I don't think anyone expects he'll be of any particular value.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
When I've seen Rance bowl in NZ in T20I he has been rather good, but overseas I don't think he's up to much. He seems like a "season pro to win a T20 WC" selection, because surely you'd want to look to the future in this format.

Oh please. If we're looking for season pros, surely Tickner or hell, even Jamieson would have been far better choices.

Absolutely pointless picking Rance just coz he slog a bit (you'll get absolutely nothing out of him realistically, more often than not)
