Exactly why the DRS is good though tbf. Guptill genuinely batting for his spot here and to be out like that would've been complete ****.
If only his parents had joined the rest of the herd, and moved to NZ 12 or 15 years ago. If only.If only Steyn didn't exist. If only.
He'd be sitting on a treatment table somewhere with a back injury...If only his parents had joined the rest of the herd, and moved to NZ 12 or 15 years ago. If only.
Nah don't reckon his pull shot was that good. Tended to duck his head down at the point of contact, and always hit it up, rather than rolling his wrists on it. Definitely something intl attacks can exploit easily, so he was right to put it away.Whatever happened to Guptill's pull shot? He hit it so well but because he got out to it a few times early in his career he binned it, such a shame imo, loved watching him bang that out.
Yeah it was strictly a limited overs shot. To use it in tests against quality quicks takes something more because you actually have to think for a fraction of a second before you play it which none of our batsmen are really good enough to do. In ODIs and T20s it's just a reflex action.Nah don't reckon his pull shot was that good. So you improve upon it, not bin it. That's just such a New Zealand thing to do.Nah don't reckon his pull shot was that good. lol bull****. i've done it in a club game years ago. we got rolled, i top scored from 11 and the skipper told me to head back out there, duly got a duck second digYou can't actually do that. You can't bat twice in a row. There has to be at least be a 15 minute break before a batsman can start their second innings if they were not out in the first and they followed on. A situation like this occurred about 5 years ago.
and you wonder why so many batsmen favour the hoick across the lineYeah Richardson was such a crap opener for binning all the shots he wasn't good at, terrible idea. Steve Waugh should've manned up too, what kind of whimp decides to duck short balls.
Not saying you bin it permanently. But you focus on not playing it while out of form, focus on improving your technique in the nets and FC cricket, and in the interim look to make runs through safer shots. Unfortunately, Guptill doesn't have any other shots to rely on at the moment. So you improve upon it, not bin it. That's just such a New Zealand thing to do.

Yep, which is why I brought it up. You take away certain shots and you end up being a pretty limited batsmen, which is fine if you're a Richardson or Waugh, not so much if your Guptill. Not saying you bin it permanently.
