As far as I'm concerned:

Marshall=How=Fulton=Papps=every single other opener in NZ currently. Wait for Matthew Bell to make a come back next summer!
What happened to Cumming? He looked good against Oz.

Cumming hasn't been going so well. Maybe he's been having trouble with leaving which means he hasn't been staying at the crease.

So in summary, Cumming hasn't been going because he's not been staying due to his leaving.

Anyone else confused?

So he's not leaving for this tour because he couldn't leave?

I think Cumming is a solid sort of player. I don't think he backs his ability though to be honest. He knows his limitations and sticks to them, but doesn't seem likely to make the big scores.

Papps and How are more free-flowing players, whereas Cumming and Fulton are the one's more likely to bat long periods.

New Zealand's next opener: Blair Pocock.

Next opening commentator, you mean?
Well, can you guess where the next opener will come from? Pocock probably has more chance of breaking into the side than Vincent.

You just don't know whats going to happen next with Bracewell.

I guess stability is a nasty word. It must have negative connotations.. how else do you explain the attrition rate of our openers?

I don't mind Papps and Fulton as a partnership. Just as long as they stick with them for more than Cape Town's outing.

I wouldn't be surprised if Braces brought in one of his old Otago teammates like Bruce or Wayne Blair to open the batting.

The man is stranger than strange.

Two spinners for New Zealand, Kyle Mills dropped, surprising arguably New Zealand's best bowler last game.

In fact I think it's hard to argue.

Chris Martin should consider himself very lucky indeed.
