I can confirm that Bracewell is 100 % ******** (re comments on Sinclair and Vincent)

BLACKCAPS tour party announced
BLACKCAPS coach John Bracewell has announced the BLACKCAPS squad for next month’s Test tour to South Africa.

The BLACKCAPS are due to arrive in Johannesburg on April 5 for a 10 day build up to the three match Test series, which will include a First Class match against a Rest of South Africa XI, beginning on April 7.

“We expect to have a challenging time in South Africa. It is important that we quickly make the transition to the altitude, climate and playing conditions, as well as to the intensity that the South African team will bring to these matches,” Bracewell said.

“Michael Papps provides us with cover as a specialist opener and adds balance to the team. He has performed well for the BLACKCAPS in the past and now appears to have addressed issues with his technique.

“Jacob Oram has been declared fit to tour and will provide the team with a genuine all rounder.

“Lou Vincent and Mathew Sinclair have not been considered for selection as they would both miss the build up and the first Test match due to personal commitments,” he said.

Vincent wishes to be home for the birth of his first child, due April 15, while Sinclair is getting married, also on April 15.

Both players would be available to join the squad following the first Test in the event that any need arises to call for replacement batsmen.

BLACKCAPS: Stephen Fleming (captain), Daniel Vettori (vice captain), Nathan Astle, Shane Bond, Peter Fulton, James Franklin, Jamie How, Brendon McCullum, Hamish Marshall, Chris Martin, Kyle Mills, Jacob Oram, Michael Papps, Jeetan Patel, Scott Styris

Let's not have those sorts of comments please.
Sure. I just can't believe how many excuses this guy makes to try and appease the public. He was never going to pick them anyway. Why can't he just come out and say it?!

Yeah, Bracewell's an idiot. That's ridiculous, seriously that's just ridiculous. Two things, he's forgotten who his best players are with their form recently. And the other thing is he's just an idiot talking about openers and ... uh... being committed to the team. He has been one of the most frustrating coaches to watch and from what I've seen so far in his career, he's just crap. He's forgetting about Vincent, about a year ago he got a double ton...

Since everyone was doing it and I thought I might steal Volty's last line...

Indeed, and his only test innings since was a 95. Admittedly against Zimbabwe, but still.

Personally I think Vincent can consider himself more unlucky than Sinclair, as Vincent hasn't done a lot wrong in tests since moving down the order, while Sinclair has been disappointing more than a few times...although his first-class form has been remarkable.

As much as I love the idea of Vincent playing (and Sinclair playing ahead of Marshall), I'd say that the reasons he gave for them not being in the original squad are pretty reasonable. I know that all other captains fly home to see their little 'uns being born, and as for Sinclair, well, I suppose it would be a bit weird if he wasn't around for his own wedding.

I hope that at the very least Vincent is recalled, though, if not both of them. Although I imagine that it will largely depend on the results of the first test.

If Mason is so unfit (as he apparantly has told Bracewell) how come he has bowled 16 overs against ND and taken 3/34?

I think Bracewell is telling MORE porkies.
