Well what a pasting that series was... combine this and the home series against the Aussies and our ODI form is pretty ordinary isn't it? True there were wins in Zimbabwe against the hosts and an Indian team that was falling apart at the time but I'm worried about NZ cricket at the moment.
Bond seems to be struggling, Marshall is waaaay out of form, Styris and Oram are playing half all-rounder roles (ie, not quite doing it with ball or bat), Vincent's still very hot and cold and Mills can bowl and can go for 6 an over... WC 2007 looking a long way off at the moment...

Im not overally convinced that Cairns would have been the difference. If you saw his form in Zimbabwe, he looked rather average.
The players over there were more than capable of winning the series, they just didn't pull their weight enough to get over the finishing line.

We've got around 3 weeks to sort it out before Australia get here.

Whatever it takes!!!
wow...4-0....... RSA are growing to be a real force in ODI cricket. They seem to have found a good replacement for zulu as well. India beware.

All of our (NZ) players need to find some good form and then keep it. How many times have we seen batsmen get 40 or 50 and then get 0 (or near) in the next game? Also our bowlers have been shocking. Shane Bond is out of form and has been dissapointing and Vettori (who ripped apart aussie ladt year in aussie) has bearly got any wickets.

We need to find players who can continue with form for more than one match. look at the likes of ponting and gilchrist. Every time they walk to the crease you know your in for some excitement. NZ Players need to get their act together and play propper cricket!!

They are currently on the second-longest unbeaten run by anyone in ODI's of all time.

Again to be broken by India (Flash back Eden Gardens - though it was a test :))

Will have to wait and see for that...

Both teams are doing really good at the moment, India will [probably] be tougher than New Zeeland was, but the boys are developing into a force to be reckoned with. Greame Smith has learned a lot over the past two years, and is steadily becoming a great captain, he just needed the time. The bowlers are listening to him, and are doing great with bowling to his field placings, everything they didn't do last year.

We have high hopes for these coming matches, but we know not to expect anything to come easy!

(Btw, new here, this is my first post - If you didn't realise, I'm a Saffa...)

Watched a bit of the South African run chase, thought Smith batted reasonably well, got away with a few shots.

5-0 for South Africa verus India in India? If that happens, I think it will be truly shocking. And if that doesnt happen, the run will be broken :p

Also, I am a huge South African cricket fan.

Welcome to CW!

Thanks for your warm welcomes!

I'll definitely stick around, seems like a very interesting board, with people who are passionate about the game and know what they are talking about!

Btw. Pratyush, I see your point, to whitewash India in India is definitely a very difficult task, some would say impossible, but we can always hope!

If there ever was a team to do it, it would be this one, but India is also playing superbly, so the chances of it happening, is admittedly very slim...

Are you a bigger Saffa supporter than India supporter, if you are I'm actually very surprised, that isn't something you come across every day - An Indian supporting South Africa ahead off India :D

There was a time when I was that. That was when the Indian team was no good at all and the match fixers were still around. But then again, that RSA side was led by a fixer as well.......Soz.

The thing is I started watching in 91 and the first match was South Africa's return to cricket and I saw it live at the Eden and it was the first match I saw ever. I had not seen or remember seeing any cricket on tv either because no one in my family used to watch. I went with my uncle and got hooked.

Then 92 happened and then I followed the whole India tour of RSA in 93.

So I am as attached to South Africa as I am to India in respect of cricket. I get confused who to support.

It was really funny the last time around when there was the India-South Africa test at the Eden when I was genuinely cheering, jumping when South Africa took wickets and people were glancing suspiciously at me!

I find I am cheering for both teams. I know its weird.

I'm not even a NZ supporter but I'm so concerned about Marhsall, he's one of my favourite young batsman of today and to see him struggling like he has been over the past few months is disappointing.

You know I admire that a lot. It means that you have a true connection to the game and not just the team.

There are to many people who are only supporters because their family is or because they don't want to be the odd one out, the fact that you support two teams is very refreshing.

I have favourite teams outside of South Africa, (I'd normally route for NZ no matter who they play against, except of course SA), but I can't really say that I support two teams. (Of course I route for anybody playing against Australia, but that's just because they are such fierce competitors) Okay heading off subject here...

I can see how people would have stared at you, must have been a pretty funny sight, even more so had you warn India's colours - Were you wearing India's colours?

I did not actually. :)

I'm Indian, but I'm a NZ supporter. This is because when I started becoming interested in cricket, NZ always seemed to have this underdog tag, of not-so-good players competing as a scrappy, fighting team (I don't know how much of this was deserved and how much was built-up, but anyway)... so this sort of a "reputation" made me like them a lot. It also explains why a guy like Robin Singh was one of my favourite cricketers.
