The way I saw it, the pitch was flat as a biscuit and Jamieson aside, struggled to get anything out of it. Southee actually bowled pretty well I thought, especially to get Pujara out on a flat one.
Patel was always going to struggle as a shortish guy on a pitch not yielding a lot of bounce or turn, although yeah his pitch map was less consistent than he'd like. Rust, no doubt. Thought Somerville was OK, and Rachin actually showed a bit of promise and ability to string decent balls together.
At 140-4 we'd done a great job, and India kicked on from there. I thought, all things considered, it was a decent effort. Obviously a big disadvantage to lose the toss, and that's only going to become more apparent later in the game when Ashwin, Jadeja and Axar get to work us over as the pitch starts to turn (and potentially become uneven and/or bounce). Massive impetus on us to score big in the first innings.
