***Official*** New Zealand in India 2016

Moss

International Captain
- Good test match so far, highly watchable. Hope this continues not least because I'll be watching days 2 & 3 in Calcutta at the ground
- This in my view is an ideal sucontinental pitch, not a minefield but enough for those who have the spin resources to exploit it. NZ still needed to bat first to narrow tha gap in the spin attack (although the trio bowled rather well), can't see them chasing much
- NZ have done really well to stay afloat (especially in restricting India, what a contrast from the Centurion bowling effort), largely committed to the plans it seems. But needed KW and/or Latham to score big, without the big first innings lead it's a matter of time before India press home the advantage in these conditions
- NZ better have plans for Vijay and Pujara, I don't think they'll be able to dislodge them as easily when set moving on in this series
- Ashwin an absolute treat to watch at the moment, pretty much the difference between the sides in this series you feel
- Wish Latham had tonned up, would do his confidence a world of good. Also, he can get a bit lost without a commanding player like KW at the other end.
- Credit to Hesson for backing his hunches (3 spinners, Ronchi - bit of a pleasant surprise there), but hope he's equally flexible if the other 2 pitches are any different
- Santner needs a breakthrough score; good player but you need more from your no.6 than promising 30's. I have to admit though he's someone who's always "in the game", batting or bowling
- Fleming a breath of fresh air in the commentary box

Hope Santner can keep going. He's looked Bevanesque at times in ODIs (averaging 49 thanks to a fair bit of red ink) but this is a fhallenge on a whole new scale

Really wish we had a third spinner to support Ash and Jaddu
Yeah it's ridiculous to not select a third spinner - in place of Rohit or if you absolutely must play him then just go with the sole fast bowler. It's not usually the done thing but I don't see any real argument against it in these conditions.

Ideal selection for this pitch would have been, given a 4 bowler attack, Ashwin, Jadeja, Mishra, Yadav.
