Lol you and your NZ domestic cricket gossip. You think it's a conspiracy against Ross Taylor or something? I'd suggest you start a gossip mag, only nobody would buy it.
I mean, it could as easily be Gup.

It's hardly domestic gossip that Anton is a shithead, however.

I get the feeling Rohit is going to post some big numbers in this ODI series.

Bloody unlucky that we ran into hot and humid conditions, along with turning pitches in India. Can't imagine how we could've ever seen that coming or prepared for it.
Lol, the comment below the audio sums it up well, Larsen claims there's no excuses and then goes on to list heat, turning pitches and the toss.

There's this weird double standard going on here and it was actually a comment from Doully that alerted me to this. He mentioned in the test that when Ashwin got 200 wickets that people had been tweeting him saying that he'd got 2/3rds of his wickets at home and it wasn't that impressive. Doully dismissed this by saying he doesnt care and that Ashwin still HAD to get the wickets and it's impressive regardless.

Yet when it comes to Ross Taylor everyone says "if you remove his 290, or remove his innings against Zimbabwe" he's ****-house. But by that same logic, can't you say that it doesn't matter as he still HAD to get those runs.

This is actually one reason I really get frustrated with Doull as a commentator as he is incredibly cynical about our own players, previously making calls like KW and Boult will only ever be red ball players etc. But that attitude seems to rub off on most of the public as well.

I can only speak for myself, I absolutely hate 'if you remove this etc' in most instances. I would never, ever remove Ross' 290 because that was an epic innings played against some very, very skilful bowlers. Even on a flat one, maintaining focus to score that amount of runs is insanely hard to do.

But in regards to Ross, I'm not saying he's **** v good sides but his record you would've liked to have seen be much better against sides who aren't WI, Zim etc. Is he a world class Test batsman? To me, no. Not consistent enough. However, most would say Martin Crowe was, yet his record is almost identical to Ross'. It's an interesting debate.

when you delete his runs against WI/Zim/Bang he averages 39, which isn't amazing nor is it terrible and that average is bogged down by his record against South Africa. Averages 40+ against England, Pakistan and Australia.

he's also learned how to ski downhill. if we're going to call the likes of kohli and warner (to pick two at random) world class despite them having big holes in their resumes then ross certainly is.

kohli and warner are world class ftr.

Ahh, please don't. Everything else you said was good up until that point.

There is no debate between Crowe and Taylor as Test batsmen. If there's ever a case of statistics telling porkies, it's this comparison.

Must I remind you Crowe was basically the best batsman in the world in the decade between 1985 & 1995; and probably dominated the two best opposition bowlers in his era; Marshall & Wasim more than any other batsman going around.

Apples and oranges. IIRC, only Tendulkar and Crowe averaged >50 in that 10 year period, and Tendulkar only played the last 5 years.

Yeah, it's not a debate I have much trouble in finding a side for, I'm just saying someone like Flem might like to tell you that Ross is better. Dude moved to Hamilton just to be closer to his hero.

Nah, I doubt even Flem would make that claim.

Ross and McCullum always divide nz opinion. Quite interesting. Not sure if it's because they are brilliant but flawed cricketers or if it's mainly due to the kiwahh nature of kiwahh cricket fans.

That's a cracking over first up.

On the other end Pandya with the new ball is disturbing. Surely that's not going to end well for us.

I don't mind Pandya playing, but Pandya opening the bowling is definitely a bit ehk. I'd have actually preferred Binny if this was going to be role he was employed in.
