***Official*** New Zealand in India 2012

Any English fans watching Taylor bat like this must really be hoping Pietersen makes the trip to India, as I can't see anyone else in their line-up taking to them like this.

Apologies if this is considered a threadjack...
Bell can dominate when he's in the right mood, but no we don't have anyone who could score at this rate. Taylor 79* off 69 balls, what's the fastest Test 100 by a New Zealander? It would be someone like Astle or Cairns I would guess.

Taylor already holds the record I believe.

BCCI aren't stupid enough to not make the U-turn when their team no longer gets the benefit of no UDRS series after series. They're getting plenty in their favour here. They got plenty in their favour in West Indies and they got plenty in their favour against England. I can't remember with Australia.

They can pressurise umpires, behave atrociously and get away with it because of their clout. This generally means they get the benefit of bad umpiring.

Anyway pretty much everyone outside India is wanting New Zealand to win here. I get the impression India's batting was a little arrogant in the first match, NZ just didn't take their chances.

Ah, Flynn. Just can't help himself. Compulsive sweeper.

Could bat for England.

Is Flynn the new McCullum? Yes IMO. Plenty of talent but seems to have a high opinion of his attacking ability and refuses to learn from mistakes. I prefered the 'gritty' Flynn in his first test stint.

(though the more recent McCullum is a bit better than this). Is Flynn the new old McCullum?

Found the 'gritty' Flynn pretty toothless personally.

When the ball is turning square I accept that the sweep becomes an important release shot because you can neutralise the turn. When the pitch is behaving itself on the first day, seriously, just play anything on the stumps with a straight bat. Save the sweep for anything well outside off or outside leg.

Am I deluding myself in thinking it really ought to be that simple?

Problem for us is one wicket leads to Van Wyk as the start of the tail and then one more is basically all out.
