Pleased to see them stay on even though the light was deteriorating, though I do question the consistency given it appeared to be far worse light than the bad light which ended a few days' play in Brisbane for the test match. So not complaining, just raising the point given its in the umpire's discretion with regard to consistency. They'll be off any minute for bad light
HowSTAT! ODI ScorecardBit anticlimatic with Sreesanth grabbing the last two wickets in the space of a minute - reminded me a bit of the 9th wicket partnership between that man Mills and Tim Southee when we faced India in Christchurch last year before it ended rather abruptly.
Well if Munaf Patel hadn't been removed from the attack for bowling beamers it could've been anyone's game...unfortunately Yusuf Pathan killed it off from a NZ point of view.
Hmm, maybe. Without trying to sound patronising, though.. while Clarke's strike rate is unacceptable for a team with Australia's depth in limited overs batting talent, someone who could bat 4 and average 45+, even with a strike rate in the low 70s, would be quite useful for NZ at the moment. It's essentially just a more effective version of what Elliott does, with the ability to bat higher up the order. They'd take that I think - it'd give the likes of McCullum, Taylor, Guptill and Ryder a real licence up the order.I could see Kane becoming the new Michael Clarke in all forms of the game. Still love him, though.
Vinay Kumar bowls tripe from what I have seen of him, and Irfan Pathan is unlikely to make the World Cup team as he is struggling with an injury. As of now, there are three contenders for the number seven slot : R.Ashwin, Yusuf Pathan and Ravindra Jadeja. I hope and pray it is not R.Jadeja who gets the nod, but I have a feeling MS Dhoni will go for him. For some reason, he seems to have taken a liking to R.Jadeja.The Indians need to make Yusuf Pathan a viable fifth bowler option. He takes the pressure off Yuvraj and Sehwag (both of them struggle to score runs when they're bowling loads) and also adds some strength to the lower order. On most pitches, especially those that don't favour the bowlers, he's as useful as most specialist bowlers in the team. While he's been treated as a part-timer in the national side, he is a leading spinner for Baroda and a very smart slow bowler. The bloke's one of the top ten FC bowlers this season, so far. Similar bowlers, seam or spin, do well for their teams, and India can do with one such. He'll do his job fine if he can get at least eight overs out of the way, but he's never been consistently given the chances they've got. Two overs in three games isn't much of a chance- the others get eight overs a game. If he can cut out those six-balls, he's just fine. Alternatively, they can have a five-bowler lower order that's got any three of Ashwin, Chawla, Mishra, Vinay, Harbhajan, Irfan and Praveen, but if bolstering the batting is important, this may be the way to go. He's not much of a frontline bowler, but not so bad that you take him out totally.
Williamson looks like Pup part 2, tbh.No doubt about it. A Michael Clarke would be damn handy for NZ's ODI team.
Someone saying that is actually where the conversation started about Clarke in this thread.Williamson looks like Pup part 2, tbh.
