I'd take it. But Ambrose certainly isn't the worst batsman, and the tail is strong enough to hit 25-50 runs reliably enough. Could be close, great comeback after that opening partnership.

Vettori getting some of the best returns for good bowling that he has for years, was rather luckless in the home Tests.

Looking forward to seeing Bumble's comeback for Accrington on Cricket AM next week.

England close to a lead now, but not the sort that might have put New Zealand under pressure. Ideally they needed to be leading by around 100, and fire out a couple tonight; that's clearly not going to happen now.
