He's terrible under pressure. Terrible. A shocking choker. That's one of my biggest problems with him. He just isn't a winner.
He hasn't chocked under pressure because generally over the last five or six years hes brought us back into games after our quicks haven't done the job, or has tied down an end pretty effectively. He has had his moments however, India in the T20 World Cup in recent times.

Hmm not sure how Corey Anderson made his way into that list.

If Bruce Martin is such a better bowler than Patel, any reason hes never really been a candidate for any tour as a back-up spinner? He seems to have fallen off the selector's radar over the last couple of years anyway, I seem to remember him going on a few A-level tours in the early to mid-2000s.
I actualy have no idea, he's not a bad bowler (unless you listen to our spinner lover) but Patel and McCullum seem to have jumped ahead of him.

Gotta feel it for Collingwood here, he will probably be known from now on as another Chappell of cricket in terms of ugliness.

Collingwood didn't strike me as the kind of guy who would endorse unsportsmanlike conduct to win, you do wonder the pressure he was under from his peers when he made that snap decision.
Haha, ffs. The way people are talking about this, like the McCullum run outs, you would think Collingwood did this all deliberately. It was an unfortunate chain of events that happened in a very short period of time that was only able to be looked at properly after it had occurred and the game had progressed.

Collingwood made a poor decision. It wasn't a pre-thought out move. It wasn't a plan of any sort. You could liken this to a crime of passion as opposed to premeditated murder.

He has, although I remember about a year ago Chris Martin started having "C MARTIN" on the back of his shirt, so they must have thought there was a chance of another Martin being involved at that point.

McCullum still has a B on his shirt though, so maybe that's not a strong indicator.
I guess thats to do with Nathan getting called up and making his NZ debut in the T20 World Cup in South Africa less than a year ago.

Here's a question that the world has been wanting answered since time immemorial - as fundamental to the universe as the meaning of life.... Has anyone, yourself included, ever succeeded in changing Richard's mind about something without first having to at least bash their head so many times against a brick wall that their head has turned all soft and mushy??
I've changed his mind a couple of times, but I had to go via the mushy head route. It's the only way.

Yeah.

And seeing what Collingwood said afterwards, I've certainly forgiven him for it and am perfectly happy to forget about it.

Have to admit I may have thought differently had we lost the game. Wish I could be more mature than that, but I'm not.

Especially with the bat...the tied ODI against England last summer, the ODI against Australia in 2004/05 at Wellington where he tried a ridiculous paddle-sweep shot first ball, the recent test against England where he had nothing when we needed him to take wickets...2001/02 ODI against Australia when he dropped a catch while Bevan was on his way to that amazing 100...when HAS Vettori done something spectacular to win us a match btw?
He's a dire batsmen in ODIs and would agree that he's cracked under pressure in the shorter form. It's bizarre that someone can be pretty darn good with the bat in tests like he has been and looked completely clueless in ODIs.

Also, iirc, Vettori was our highest wicket taker in the tests versus England. Could be mistaken though.

Will get back to you on a match winning front after some research. Coming in and smacking a six and a four (again, iirc) vs Aus in a CH match to win it for us comes to mind, but he was only out there for like, 5 minutes.

Maturity is over-rated.

Still,

Pieterson is the senior man who took the bails off, he should have really, implored Colly to not appeal the decision.
If I can remember correctly, was it not Pietersen who was run out by Ntini (I think - Pollock was involved too I remember) in either an ODI or T20 within the last year in a fairly controversial fashion?

If we had lost the game, I would've been more annoyed at us for letting the game get away against such a mediocre ODI side like England.

That one was for Scaly ;)

Was a bit more than five minutes, he and McCullum put on a 50-run partnership in no time. Also against West Indies in the NatWest series final and India in a crucial T20 International match off the top of my head.

Just wondering why his batting has come into this though?

My doctor has advised me to put Richard on ignore until my skull fracture has healed properly but... I ... Just... Cannae... DO IT!?!
God help RichyRichDickinson if he ever faces the Heathster in the nets when he's pumped and ready!!

And uninjured. But hey, all the best NZ fast bowlers make sure they get injured lots. Its a compliment.
