I'm a bit of a plastic pom really; my mum's English and a lot of my dad's family is too but I was born here and have Australian roots a long way back too on my dad's mother's side. I support England in a lot of sports, including cricket, but I kind of abstain on the Ashes because I follow Australian cricket too and end up largely torn. My Englishness gives me a differentiating identity amongst Australians if that makes sense but I'd probably identify myself more as Australian if I did live in England.

So basically I've chosen to completely dodge the question.
The fact that my mates here give me **** if Australia beat England in a cricket match probably says a lot I guess.
Loved the essay mate, but really, you could have made an effort and gone into some detail!!:p

Me, I'm 42 and have lived in this wonderful country for 20 years.............An Aussie in every way you can think of apart from sport. But I've copped waaaayyyyy too much **** in those
last 20 years over here being a POM and our woeful cricket team that I'm probably more parochial than I was when I first got here!!

Taylor ripping us apart. He's doing exactly what needs to be done on this pitch and is putting every remotely bad ball away for four, even if there have been a ****load of them.

Yeah, at risk of boring everyone further, I got pushed more towards supporting England in the Ashes when I was younger by the Australian press and casual fans, along with a complete inability to support players like Symonds and Hayden. I was following both sides all year round and then getting the ****s with the ignorance and hubris from the press here around Ashes time. Not too many actual poms to tease around here either so being a half blood made me an easy banter target.

Do you know uvelocity in real life or just from another cricket site?

Really enjoying this from Taylor.

Could be a really great match this.
Taylor is class. I knew he wouldn't bat at 2rpo, the only question was how long he could do it for. We really need a three figure score from him.
Anyhoo, he has the highest score in the game so far, so it's a good start.

Yeah people will look at the scorecard and stereotype the innings as Taylor going out there and having a swipe, but he's just waited on the bad ball, and England have served him up plenty.

Funny, I have an ongoing soft spot for Australia because of the exact reasons you claim caused you to side towards England when you were younger. I don't even have any family connections to Australia, though.

This is very wrong.
