Despite the bad timing it's a good point. I thought he was a terrible selection when he was recalled because his domestic performances had really, really tailed off but he's been killing it, so fair play.Elliot is a perfect no. 5 for NZ. Accumulates well and is adept at rebuilding an innings after an early collapse.

I had a chuckle when one of the Sky coms (can't even remember who) said New Zealand have an old fashion ODI team with non-specialists and listed Elliott as one before going on to call Woakes a specialist bowler. Elliott bats five or six and barely bowls - in fact he hasn't taken a wicket since 2010 - while Woakes is the absolute definition of a bits and pieces cricketer, batting 7 and operating as the fifth bowler. I like Woakes, but it was a silly point.
