*Official* New Zealand in England 2021

Incidentally, is there any discussion of Anderson being suspended - I take it not? Thus establishing that either a) marginalising gay people is better than racism or b) deleted tweets deserve less punishment than 9 year old public ones

Sorry to drag this on, I'm just trying to make sense of the world. Promise it's my last 'Twitter-gate' post

Anderson’s tweet was pretty obviously less egregious than Robinson’s. Having said that it’s rather hard to establish a sliding scale of punishments for offensive tweets, so the ECB has landed itself in a bit of a mine field here.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
The ECB were incredibly dumb about the whole thing. Anyone in their PR department with a bit of sense would've had a quiet word to Robinson and strongly suggest that Robinson himself step down for the rest of the series to undertake some sensitivity training or give some talks to local cricket teams about how you can change blah blah blah but no, they presented a solution about as smart as not vetting their newly minted player's social media.

Odds:
England - $1.81
Draw - $4.80
New Zealand - $2.95

How? Can't make out these odds at all. Surely BCs are ahead in this game or because Kane isn't playing odds of England winning went up.
Our batting looks brittle. I think Mitchell coming in for de Grandhomme will shore it up slightly, but I would also like Ravindra to come in for Santner and batting 8.

Yeah nah rachin is barely a 5th bowler at fc level, and mitchell is untested at test level.
Ravindra in the test XI works if there are 4 specialist quicks.

Similar to how Santner selection would have worked - if de Grandhomme hadn't got a chance in the next season and made such a success of the #7 / 5th bowler role.

Would pick Mitchell with Ajaz. Mitchell is a better bat than CdG but a less effective bowler, so if we pick a more specialist spinner than Santner we should get the extra batting strength.

Would like to see Rachin, but agree if he's the spin option we want 4 quicks.

Yep, pretty much. If we're talking Test/FC, he's a better bowler than Santner as well which beggars belief that Santner even gets picked - although I guess the argument is that Santner might provide better economy.

If we're picking Mitchell, it has to be as a specialist middle order batsman. His bowling at international level is best described as Rod Latham-lite.
