Ronchi's older than McCullum anyway. If we're talking about the side in a post-McCullum, post-Elliott world and looking towards the next WC, I doubt Ronchi will be around.

I agree to a point. 38 is not incredible for a ODI specialist without McCullum's injuries. But his hand eye is a concern.

That said, I based my selection on no McCullum, no Ronchi and no Elliot.

Not sold on Latham. Seriously not sold on Latham opening with Guptill. Selectors will want someone to take advantage of initial powerplay overs. Is Latham going to go Greatbatch? He might do in the future - but I do not see it at the moment.

Its called the powerplay overs for a reason. I don't want Guptil losing his wicket being forced to play the power role knowing what he can do throughout an innings.

I disagree. His World Cup and tour(s) of England demonstrate that you are not correct.

I agree in tests he is better when striking the ball. But his current way of playing ODI cricket is working quite nicely. He cannot carry Latham, as is.

And saying that Latham is going to do a Williamson. Not many players in the world can do a Williamson. He is scoring deceptively swfit these days.

Yeah there's this kid Phillips coming through for this, if Hesson (or Bradburn) are going to be looking for McCullum's replacement on the less conservative side of town. He's not offering Hesson shots off both feet like Ronchi did in 2013 or Devcich did, but his good foot is the back foot.

Yeah, they are. Far prefer NZ on an individual player level compared to Australia.

In that post there, the 'we' was meant to refer to cricket fans as a whole, ftr (not that it actually matters, but hey, we're discussing it). I think not wanting Captain Anton is a universal desire.

Looking at those ODI Line ups being posted I will follow up with my source about munro's desire to be a keeper.
It is starting to look more and more like his best path into the team.
Last I heard about it was 18 months ago so I presume it fizzled out or was a non starter. Will follow up.

Latham inside the first 10 will have a higher strike rate than most batsmen in the NZ side. Not due to Greatbatching it. Due to the fact that he can hit gaps and has shots around the wicket.
