Yep, just not adjusting to the situation, almost as if too well-planned for 50 overs.
Incidentally, kind of annoying the speed-gun seems to have stopped with Mathieson into the attack.

Exactly. If you wanna take pace off the ball like the commentators suggest, why not actually go to a spinner that has taken key wickets before? Elliot was just a bad choice to throw at two set batsmen who are comfortable with the pace
