Well to be fair we had a series in WI going on while you guys were posting in here. Our eyes were elsewhere. In terms of volumes of posts in this thread, the top ranked English poster comes in at number 24.
All good, I made a point of liking your Joe Root post btw just so that we would see more English news and views.Well to be fair we had a series in WI going on while you guys were posting in here. Our eyes were elsewhere.
Well I hope he turns into a good player. Seems to be making a debut a bit later than others usually do.Now the future of KP is sorted we will appear in here trying to work out our side this season.
I reckon Lyth for Trott will be the only change we make from the last 2 tests in WI.
Stuck with him so far so can't see them dropping him.Nobody better than Jordan on the radar yet?
Your predictions for how Lyth will fair...how good is he...I have cricinfoed him.Stuck with him so far so can't see them dropping him.
Plunkett was left out for this weeks matches for disciplinary reasons so can't pick him really. Woakes is injured, unless we give a debut to Wood I can see us staying with the same attack.
Whats the go with James Harris? Seemed to be the next big thing and remember the videos I saw of him years ago when he was 18/19 he looked pretty gun. Turn out to be average or not-quite-there-yet?Stuck with him so far so can't see them dropping him.

Normally I'd agree but it's 4 days (as oppose to those ridiculous 2-day ones) and conversely while it might degrade the quality of who we face, being able to give all the batsmen and all the bowlers a go without having to leave anyone out and effectively without a chance of staking their claim is not a bad thing. It also means we can give bowlers long spells and give them long rests, if need be.Disappointed that next tour game is a mickeymouse-class match. This will set us back.
Will do ok, scores quickly in comparison to anyone else picked recently so should work well with Cook in that respect. Until they get tested by the best bowlers though you are never really sure as so many players look good at a lower level and can't step up. Think he is a stop gap anyway till Lees is ready.Your predictions for how Lyth will fair...how good is he...I have cricinfoed him.
Welcome to CW. Strong first post.Assuming Broad and Anderson play England need to then look at how they balance their attack. Given Anderson's age and Broad's fitness I think England need five bowlers. Ali probably plays by default as no specialist spinner seems any better and Stokes has done enough in the short-term to be the 5th bowler. That leaves one slot. I think England need to define what they want Stokes to do, so far England have used him as a medium fast almost stock bowler, in the Big Bash he bowled short quickish spells. Once Stokes's bowling role is defined the third bowler should ideally fill the opposite task. Given Ali, Butler and Stokes are all able to play at 6 I think the main concern really should be picking the best 3rd bowler to fill this role.
