*Official* New Zealand in England 2015

Rashid can put some real pressure on Ali in tests with this series. He is good enough to bat 8 easily and would be great for cleaning up tailenders. He needs more control as still some rank stuff mixed in with class but promising signs. Still only 27 as well.
Yep. He can turn it both ways and his googly usually goes more than his leggy.

You're right though tail enders wont have a clue. For the more avid watcher of him how easy is his googly to pick?

Something which people sneer at, as you see from over the years, so many test matches are lost by teams not wrapping up the lower order, its vital to have someone who can knock them over relatively cheaply, something which England especially have struggled with over the years.

Wow, thrashed. Well done to England.

Boult taking 4/55 and the team still conceding 400 is a pretty damning indictment on the rest of our attack.

Well done England.

I've rated both Root and Buttler very highly since I first saw them play on the English tour of NZ 2 years ago. Pleased to see them doing well.

As for NZ, we've got some young players that should get a go on this tour so I don't mind losing. Gotta give Latham a shot. Maybe rest Williamson?

But but you and many others have slagged him off as he wasn't up to it as a 21 year old.

I kept quiet as it wasn't worth the hassle as so many don't rate him.

You do get better with age as a spinner, it is allowed.

Rashid forever, Moeen never.

Maybe rest Williamson?
He has just came from India where he spent about 6 weeks doing **** all, doubt he really needs a rest and after getting smashed like that wouldn't be dropping the 2nd highest run scorer .

If NZ had a big tour coming after this, then maybe you could drop him, but I don't think they do, so may as well pick him until at least the result of the tour is decided.

I'd be looking at anybody in the squad who can bowl though, don't want to see as ****e as bowling as that from Mitch again.

Always thought the "NZ Jade Dernbach" tag was cruel, but a few more days like that...

Really felt like balance of bowling attack was all wrong - Partly due to injuries.
Couple of other thoughts-
Henry did not bowl well in the Southee 2.0 role.
Dont think we will see two finger spinners again for a while.
Was really surprised to see Boult bowl out at 35th over I know they were chasing wickets but i thought they would save him for a death bowling role.
The next couple of game are going to be huge for Mitch he is really at a cross roads in his career as the "strike bowler who takes wickets at all cost" role has been taken by trent.
Ross Taylor is going to get fat given that he never moves from first slip any more, no matter the situation.

Oh I definitely wouldn't be dropping Williamson, he's our best player. I'm just thinking that they need to fit Latham into the top order so we have some depth there.

McCleneghan can be complete rubbish some days.

How on earth does this Santner guy get a game? I he was Australian he'd probably struggle to get into state 2nd XIs and here he is playing ODI cricket? Surely NZ have got better than him to select from. smh

He's young, he can hit a ball hard, and he can turn it. 6 is definitely too high for him at this point in time.
He's worth a shout. Certainly more so than someone like Devcich.

List A careers are pretty hard to judge, particularly with such a small sample size. The reality is that if we were picking an allrounder to replace Anderson and Neesham purely based on List A stats, we'd be picking Franklin, and there's no point in going back to him - even though he may perform decently for a while.

Managed to catch a bit of Buttler on my break. Well I say a bit, he scored about 90 runs in the time I was watching.

Not Terrible
We had a freak good day and you had a freak bad one.

Normal service will be resumed next match.
I mean not exactly but pretty much this. Even the likes of Australia get trounced every now and then.

It should only be panic stations if we get outclassed like this multiple times.

Santner stepped up a level in 2014-15 list A campaign. Made match winning contributions with bat, handy with ball. ND only won 4 of 9 list A games in 2014-15, but Santner's batting in wins included 86 (66) and 73* (63) batting at #6, bowling in wins included 9.3-39-2, 9-46-1, 9.2-25-2.

IMHO is at the same point of his career as Neesham and Anderson in early 2013 when they were picked for SA tour, picked on promise and technique, rather than from limited success / experience after only a couple of full domestic seasons. Neesham and Anderson picks have worked well ....

This isn't news. Henry's never been a good death bowler, even in the early days when he was averaging about 15 per wicket in ODI's.
