Would be reluctant to move him now, there is a really big case for moving him to 4 and Bell to 5 though. Not that your 3 & 4 got runs though.
But that 5,6,7,8 is incredible strong.
There's a decent argument for Root to bat at 3.
Wood coming in and looking the part means we can now carry Stokes in his poor games like we did Flintoff at the start of his career. When we had Stokes and Jordan in the same side we had two 4th seamers in the same side but Wood is a genuine threat and we can still call on Plunkett if needed during the summer. We have a lot more depth than 12 months ago, ashes may come too soon but we are at home so you never know.So many good things have come out of it as well. Stokes is obviously not going to play like that every game, will have his bad days but we know for sure he is worth sticking with whatever now, makes the selection questions a lot easier. Then you have Wood looking a big upgrade on Jordan and Cook playing his best innings in years.
He has haters? How could anyone be anything but impressed with the lad.Stokes haters can suck it.
Not really honestly, his ODI form leading to the world cup was pretty bad, so it made sense at the time.He has haters? How could anyone be anything but impressed with the lad.
Test cricket or not, just reconfirms how ludicrous his WC non-selection was.
I'm far from a hater but before this game his record was dog****, and remains so in one dayers. There is ammo against him tbfHe has haters? How could anyone be anything but impressed with the lad.

He is a doombrain, got talent but even a month ago he was losing his head against Marlon Samuels and losing his form with bat and ball because he wanted to have a duel on the field. He has haters? How could anyone be anything but impressed with the lad.

Yup, NZ's mental toughness really called into question over the last 2 days. Thought they bowled well without luck yesterday morning, but then lost it and started bowling at Cook..and of course Craig was just abysmal.I was just thinking how embarrassing it would be for boult if he backed away and swung wildly only to lose his stumps, but that was even worse.
Cricket is so much about using your head. What a game.
His talent can be seen a mile away. He would have been a more useful WC option than Jordan, I'm sure of that. Not really honestly, his ODI form leading to the world cup was pretty bad, so it made sense at the time.
Jordan's done more though. His talent can be seen a mile away. He would have been a more useful WC option than Jordan, I'm sure of that.
Yup, it's uncanny how many tests NZ have been ahead in going into the 4th & 5th days in England since '04 only to crumble at the last...Fun fact - that's the 5th time since 2008 that New Zealand have scored more than 350 in their first innings in a Test vs England and gone on to lose.
It's also the 14th time in the history of the game that a team has scored more than 500 in their first innings and still gone on to lose the game.
