Naeem has played and missed 15 times in this innings. Fifteen times.

It has to be said, Mushfiqur and Southee aside, the standard of cricket in this match has been village. Good to see JimmyGS finally bring a touch of class to proceedings.

And Naeem toe edges another 4 down through the slips. Jimmy then bowls a horrendous wide which McCullum somehow lets through his legs for 5. This innings has been a holocaust upon my eyes.

These little ****s don't really do the whole consolidate, bat out the overs thing, do they?
Hey, these little Sri Lankans can play!

Good to see that CW is gradually recovering from the overdose of quaaludes that it suffered earlier in the day.

It's still a little hard to believe that Devcich is actually playing for New Zealand.

Anyway, it looks like a pretty shambolic run-chase, even if the rain did us no favours.

What a shambles. Don't think Duckworth-Lewis did us any favours, but three overs after the resumption we were on track anyway.

I blame Devcich.

CW wasn't for me since early in the match last night.

The rain was disappointing - the match was well set up as an ODI and then ended up being basically a T20. Rain seems to interfere in a lot of matches

I thought the wicket was a good one - flat but not uber-flat with something in it for the pace bowlers if you could hit the seam or get the ball to hold up a little. Cutters and slower balls were the order of the day and Southee and Neesham bowled well late in the innings when I was watching. Woke up just in time for the hattrick so you can lay the blame for that jinx at my feet. Saw McCullum's dismissal on cricinfo before I saw the replay and thought it sounded awful, but really he was completely beaten while defending - Rubel also bowled those slower balls and cutters well for Bangladesh.

Elliott was magnificent. For someone that is the dedicated nurdler and strike rotator in the side he's pretty good at finding the boundaries these days. However overall our batting was reminiscent of the all-icing not-enough-cake selection approach. Cake made runs and we really missed Williamson to play a similar sensible knock, while from the commentary it looks like the guy that's supposed to transcend the icing/cake divide, Ross 'gateau' Taylor, was lucky to make it to 8.

Well done Bangladesh; deserving of the favourites tag.

I was going to have a big rant after seeing the result, but tbh we were never going to get 124 from 13 overs, especially without Williamson. Things were going along quite nicely at 82/3 before the rain hit.

Devchich/Rutherford as our openers is baffling though, particularly the latter. There's literally bowlers running around in this country with better List A records. The guy averages 18 after 22 games ffs.

it's been clear for over 20 years in LO cricket that you play your best batsmen at the top of the order. That means that Williamson and Taylor should be coming in at 3 or 4 at the very latest. Without the services of Ryder and Guptill, one of McCullum, Williamson or Taylor simply has to open the batting.

It's a nice idea for McCullum to come in in the late middle order and smash around bowlers at the death, but we need to get off to good starts before he can do that. I don't get how that's supposed to happen when one picks the 2 least accomplished batsmen in NZ to open the batting.

It's pretty obvious we're either deluded or taking the piss with some of these squad selections, so Bangladesh will rightly dick this team.

I'm going to try and avoid all footage of Rubel's hattrick though because that is embarrassing on principle. Neesham can be forgiven since it's his second or third game but the other two...

Only seen low quality footage but the McCullum ball looked like a good'un and he got very lucky with Neesham.

There he is. Don't be hurting Kippax by taking that video to other forums I guess, keenly defended rights as they probably now are. :p
