Excellent by Phillips and Santa, and nice to avoid a series defeat. As much as this was fun to watch though it's a pretty terrible pitch; it's basically entirely down to luck whether a batsman would survive an over or not. Excessive turn is one thing but the crazily variable bounce just made it a total lottery. Would've been a two day test were it not for the weather

Will stick up for Nicholls a bit. This isn't the game he should be judged on. We messed up by not pulling him earlier last summer.
Still deservedly a first reserve bat for us ftr. Bro has 9 pretty high quality hundreds for us. There is a very good player in there, just not at this time.

Great innings from Phillips and Santner. Phillips rewards the reluctant 'back the talented young guy' selection like Rachin did in ODIs - interesting that his play-back-every-time approach actually worked vs the spinners here. Santner will be important on next year's tours of Asia too. Satisfying win.
Nicholls should be done for a while. Yeah he can still be a reserve batsman (competing with Young) but we surely have to bring in Rachin now.
