Nah, given the relative abilities of the bowling attacks on this sort of surface, I think NZ needed a 40-50 lead. Pretty much an identical situation to the first test, tiny lead doesn't count for much really given NZ are batting 4th.

Phillips definitely showing his all-format chops though, making up for lost time. Should be the default no 6/7 in the lineup now.
