They've been bowling this pack the on side field and turn it off middle stuff to Williamson all game. Interesting.

The Specialist not even making it through to his specialty. Not an ideal start.

The way Latham's back foot goes back and towards the leg side when playing pace is really not conducive to getting in line

Latham is having the sort of season (mostly ODIs so far admittedly) that saw Raval discarded for good. Needs a major revival in the 2nd test with Young and Ravindra in the mix.

Shut the **** up Athar, they clearly have a plan to bowl it on leg stump and they should have got him out twice first innings doing exactly that. There's a cluster of fielders protecting the leg side. Analyse why they're doing it, instead of telling him to bowl a touch outside off. Idiot.

Bowling too foot outside leg stump is probably not the plan though, admittedly.

Wonder if he watched the world cup

Latham's averaging 37 over 15 tests in the past 2 years, with that average being majorly inflated by the 260* vs Bangladesh at home and the roads in Pakistan.

Latham's recent numbers would have been fine in any other era of NZ cricket, but with rachin in the wings may be worth moving on? Hard call to make.

Lol Bangladeshi commentators are like every dad at the local club match trying to give advice from the stands 😅

He can also fight for Nicholls spot with the likes of Young

Nah look, Nicholls is far shitter than Latham.

Even if Rachin really wanted to open, Latham at 4 >> Nicholls.

It's hard to drop a batsman right after a double ton, especially if he wasn't only playing for injury or conditions, but he's clearly the weakest link in the top order.

Conway still struggling.

Needs to just hang in there and hopefully he can find some form and confidence.

Only 2 players under 30 in the NZ side playing this test ; renewal has to happen sooner rather than later. "We can't drop this bloke cos he's a much beloved stalwart" is not going to regenerate the team, the bullet has to be bitten and hard calls made. We have a 4 test tour of Aus coming up in 2026/27, start preparing for that eventuality now. There is a desperate need for new seamers in the mix & a hard look needs to be taken at the batting as well. The Neil Wagner "I'll retire when I'm good and ready" everlasting farewell needs to be ended asap. It is the job of coach and selector/s to effect needed change.
