Not quite sure why Phillips is bowling with the new ball here …
Nothing wrong with it, it's been the thing in the subcontinent the past decade or so that the spinners are often as or more dangerous with the new ball, as it bounces more and can skid on quicker. A far cry from the times when India would use joke bowlers like Gavaskar to take the shine off the ball.Galaxy brain Southee taking the new ball to bowl spin
Yes but it’s against 9 and 10 and now 10 and 11. Just bowl them out normally.Nothing wrong with it, it's been the thing in the subcontinent the past decade or so that the spinners are often as or more dangerous with the new ball, as it bounces more and can skid on quicker. Ross Taylor might be just what NZ are looking for.
It is normal, Bangladesh went into at least one test recently with no specialist pace bowlers.Yes but it’s against 9 and 10 and now 10 and 11. Just bowl them out normally.
It's because we're too nice to get batters out if they haven't faced 10–20 balls (otherwise they might be a bit disappointed)2 runs away from all 11 batsmen reaching double figures, despite a fairly modest score. Weirdly we were also recently the first team to ever concede this in an ODI, despite thrashing England in that game.
I was about to link Daniel Vettori's that said "Daniel Vettori has been around so long it's hard to believe has just crossed in to his thirties". But apparantly they changed it in the last few months.Ross Taylor might be just what NZ are looking for.
