In fact more likely than expecting Clarke to take them past 250 mark.No not likely.

Ok that's true Clarke never accelerated, but were the guys at the other end snoozing when he had dropped the anchor at the other end, or did Clarke tell them too not to accelerate. No credit, Sorry no. I'd have taken a 60 ball 50 from him any day than this sorry 133 ball 90odd. Robbed Aussies of any momentum with his slowcoach batting esp in the death overs, regardless of how well NZ bowled. The fact that Aussies were only 5 down is testimony to that. Clarke never accelerated when the need came. .
NZ has consistently been a very good ODI side and you might have only just woken upto the fact, they have consistently been making it to World cup and Champions trophy semis, which is testimony of their consistency, but weren't you the one who was calling them the minnows few days ago.NZ's best chance to get to the top tier is NOW! They have a realistic chance of winning this 5-0 and leap to No.2. That will be a huge boost to cricket in NZ which they direly want atm. Not to mention the confidence a 5-0 trouncing of their biggest rivals.
No, but 120-4 at 25 overs have a fair chance of making 250+ at the end of 50 overs. No you weren't spot on. If he went for his shots, and did manage to score 60 from 50 then get out... Australia would have been say 4/120 before the half-way point in the innings, exposing a weak/inexperienced lower order to some very good NZ bowling. But hey, you would've made the team, and played how you want to because no bowling is ever good enough to dictate the way you play, right?
White would have been out for less than 20.In fact more likely than expecting Clarke to take them past 250 mark.
Not if the lower order collapses they don't.No, but 120-4 at 25 overs have a fair chance of making 250+ at the end of 50 overs.
Why not pick Nannes then, he is 2 or 3 years younger, and he is a much better bowler than Harwood, only thing that is keeping them both out is their age.Meh, Harwood is in excellent ODD form, keeps it tight, and has been an excellent death bowler for Victoria over the past 2 seasons. He won't be picked because of his age, but in the interests of keeping the series alive, he'd be perfect for what the team needs IMO.
Hopes was easily the best Aussie bowler today. Certainly a guy who can bowl 10. Get rid of Warner, let Hopes open.Hughes
Warner
Hopes
Hussey

Haddin
Johnson
Bracken
McGain

kekeke, even though the 3rd position is a bit off, it's a balanced side with 4 quicks and a spinner giving us 4.5 specialists. In our position it is OK to allow Hopes to bowl about 7-8 overs and Clarke and David to bowl 2-3 overs.
We never know. But that was one heck of an anchor dropped.Ok that's true Clarke never accelerated, but were the guys at the other end snoozing when he had dropped the anchor at the other end, or did Clarke tell them too not to accelerate.
I knew it, but a No.2 position means you are in the finals. I love the NZ team of today than ever and mainly because it has got the likes of gentle but efficient performers. And leapfrogging to No.2 ahead of traditional powerhouses like India, Australia is jsut wow.NZ has consistently been a very good ODI side and you might have only just woken upto the fact, they have consistently been making it to World cup and Champions trophy semis, which is testimony of their consistency, but weren't you the one who was calling them the minnows few days ago.
Well, going by the performances so far, hard to expect a lower order comprising of Hopes, White and heck, Mitchell Johnson caving in. Esp if you give some heed to the test performances. (Of course not in case of Hopes)Not if the lower order collapses they don't.
Tbh i was waiting for white to go ballistic or maybe even sending in a johnson instead of ferg, dunnoDisagree. The pitch was hardly unplayable, and yes, NZ bowled exceptionally well during the middle overs. But someone would have surely stepped up (White, Hopes) and Aussies might have scored 250+.
It's not to suggest Clarke should have been out for less than 10. No. As Pasag showed us earlier, many guys have bailed out their teams of such precarious positions, and yet ended up with significantly better SR in the end. Clarke did well to bail Aussies out of trouble, but lacked anything above 2nd gear, and finally it was a job half baked and added nothing for Australia.
I think you, willfully or otherwise, seem to keep misunderstanding me.
More of a confidence thing also, gotta take into account how the aussies got thier asses handed to them really tenses up the team, esp the newer players, that said NZ played great and i think they would be at a pretty even scale playing in NZ, guess it really depends which indian team shows up if its the blaise one then NZ to steam roll em.We should beat India in our home series in the ODI's TBF.
Especially if Oram, BFJ are back.
Great way to think really. "Nah I've made my start and thrown it away chasing quick runs, let these other blokes who are nothing like as good a batsmen as I am have a chop, don't matter none if they fail against some very good bowling, at least we were trying to get to 250 right?"Well, going by the performances so far, hard to expect a lower order comprising of Hopes, White and heck, Mitchell Johnson caving in. We never know. But that was one heck of an anchor dropped.
White is just not the kind of batsman who goes ballistic right away, he needs as much time as any other batsman to get going, i think Australia should have batted Ferguson at no.3, he is a bloke in red-hot form atm and even in his short stay out there, was hitting the ball very crisply.Tbh i was waiting for white to go ballistic or maybe even sending in a johnson instead of ferg, dunno
So true, nobody has to look too far to see how true this is, in the last ODI we all saw how brilliant the Aussie lower order was.Great way to think really. I will not be rooting for it. Let's avatar bet?We should beat India in our home series in the ODI's TBF.
