Still think the second opener position is far from settled tbh. And ofc this is probably the latter stages of Warner's career.
Yeah I'm not convinced re: Burns either, but I think he's acceptable enough and he seems to get the best out of Warner too.

Hopefully Renshaw stops ****ing around, otherwise come on down Street.

But yeah this Aussie attack...not fun.

Worse for oppos is that we now have a good-ish batting lineup. Just one quality 5 from having a genuinely outstanding lineup.
Wade has locked 5 down he will be a 45+ averager for the next 5-10 years

Head needs to go though. A flukey 100 against a tired club attack proves nothing

right guys

hesson was a bit socially incompetent but he was a strong coach who made smart controversial selections and game plans.

this is kanes team with stead as a figurehead and kanes playing some tired shots

It's gone largely unnoticed, but Nicholls is having a very poor summer. Made 50 odd in one innings vs England, and absolutely nothing else.
Getting hit in the head by Archer may have affected his confidence. Has not posted a score since.

Also Erasmus has been giving marginal calls against NZ since the WC Final.

Cummins is just too good.

What a bowler. Has given nothing away and keeps the batsmen playing and missing. Goes to show how you can take wickets on this track by keeping it tight and getting players feeling outside off.

Good points about selection and workload on Kane.

I assume Santner's selection is Kane's, and Astle was picked as he is Stead's preferred domestic FC spinner (but Kane doesn't want him in the playing XI), but a stronger coach would have thought more about a game plan for winning tests in Aussie tour and there would have been a 3rd opener and a wicket-taking spinner in the squad.

That's funny we were speculating the opposite yesterday. If Santner was Kane's pick surely he would have handled him a lot better and backed him more on day 1?

The top order not turning up has made all else irrelevant mostly, though I'm sure there will be plenty of internal debate on the spinner slot.

jfc this is possibly the stupidest bowling change I've ever seen in the history of cricket 5/60 and you bring on a **** who would be a part-timer in club cricket I'm about to smash my tv

If my auntie had...she'd be my uncle. As it was you played siddle who was your best bowler in one of the tests, you drew 2-2 and we were evenly matched.
Imo starc haze and Cummins are all excellent I'm just saying plenty of Australians didn't think much of him as a test bowler not so long ago
There's a reason Aus fans were saying that, and that reason was just bowling before drinks.

Starc is good, very very good, but Pattinson is just too good a bowler to be sitting in the drinks chair.
