A grudging pass mark for day / night test cricket from the commentators, jury still out on its real merits by the sounds of it.
I thought the commentators couldn't have sounded much more positive about it.

Even Warne talked about it for a while once he had his hour of "What's Warney been up to?"

Only one day but as a day/night sceptic I thought that was pretty sound. Seemed like a usual test play up until the final session which was definitely a bit more bowler friendly, but not to an unreasonable level.

Amazed that anyone could complain about that day of cricket having sat through the two runfests we've been served up previous. Not a direct result of it being day/night cricket per se, but if pink ball means we need grassy pitches and hence an even bat/ball contest, then I'm all for it.

47k on day one of a test match, an even contest between bat and ball, and another factor to impact the way the match moves forward.

Plus Smith's hand-eye coordination makes him look like the God amongst men that we already knew he was.

What's not to love?

The only thing I definitely think they need to work on wrt the pink ball is a more obvious seam. But that might be rectified when the Duke people have a crack at it.

Starc has an early stage stress fracture in his foot. Gawn. Six weeks plus according to Nannes on ABC.

Damn, that's annoying. Should be OK for the New Zealand tour though so it's not that terrible, as we can without Starc against the West Indies anyway.

Wonder who comes in. I can't see Hazlewood and Pattinson playing all three Tests....

They played with a pink ball in this night Test. #thingsyoulearntfromch9today

Also, I ****ing enjoyed that. Well done everyone.

well Brad McNamara would have been shouting down their ears Vince McMahon-style telling them to praise the **** out of it.
Didn't you see them showing Gyngell and Cornell of C9 Executive Management and "praising" them for pushing for day/night tests for the last few years.

It's an inside job,

I almost miss the resting policy.

Its bizarre that hes been playing, surely surgery should have been order after the Ashes.
It was reported at the end of the Ashes, but Starc has played more games than any other Oz bowler, he was going to Bangladesh as well wasn't he, including shield and one day games.

Perhaps he manages his workload better than the others.

They've royally ****ed up their bowled management this series, tbh. Hazlewood needed one Test off, now he's either going to need a WI one off or break down -- which leaves us with Siddle, Pattinson and, uhh, someone else they decide to call in.

Admittedly losing MJ screwed things a lot, but realistically Haze shouldn't have played Perth, should be fresher here, and can go to the end of the summer.
