Australia have adopted a universal policy of all their batsmen giving Mark Craig's pies the treatment they deserve.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
It's really obvious they're told to say that whole thing by the producers...Slater just paused and reminded himself to tell all the mouth breathers that side of the Tasman that it's under lights in case it wasn't obvious.
Is it under lights? It's so bright out there it must be daylight!

Gee I love we brought a spinner in to debut and not have a guy who gets bounce and swing.
One of the more ******** selections in recent memory. Picking a guy about 10th in the pecking order to bat at 6, and about 5th or 6th to bowl spin. With two other spinners in the side. To replace a seamer.

if todd astle played for the right province he'd have gotten the nod over sodhi/craig two years ago.

it's ironic because canterbury used to be the right province.

The selection is all about him auditioning to take Craigs spot. He outperforms Craig in this match, he gets the spinners spot going forward.

He's not a frontline spinner though. Even noted tremendous fan boy Howsie wants him to drop the bowling (which won't happen because he's a plausible LO/T20 option).

It's just a yuck selection and one I didn't think we'd get nowadays.

howsie has a gun to chappelli's head. the grumpy old bastard hates any hint of a bits and pieces player, which is any allrounder without specialist figures in at least one discipline.

he can't have seen Murali Santa's cricinfo page yet.

Great captaincy from Baz in this series, from the frenetic field changes on day 1 at the Gabba, to his judicious use of the review system, and the intestinal fortitude of his batting example, plus his use of Southee and Boult for a paltry 9 overs between them at the start of this innings. Marvellous.
