Starc is very raw but there is a huge amount to work with
Yep. Was surprised so many Aussies were anti his selection. Only seen the boy once before, but looked to have more about him than Pattinson jr, who looks a bit straight up and down as of now.

Might be a good idea if he works some of that 'rawness' out in Shield cricket then.
Check out the fc records of the world's greatest ever fast bowlers before playing test cricket - the vast majority learned how to bowl in test cricket

I don't really like that way of thinking. Most great players from most sports have shown both talent and control/temperament in their early career (eg Cummins). IMO he'll always bowl these loose balls.

Disagree. Other than his first over (which is excusable tbh) Pattinson has been pretty much fine and looks like he actually has some semblance of a game plan. Won't be suprised if Starc has some success here, because of his previous record at this ground, but Pattinson is a more refined product for mine.

That being said neither should be playing test cricket yet imo.

I think it was more that Copeland was left out and he was the bowler perceived to have taken his spot, as Pattinson went of the Sri Lankan tour. If he'd been picked alongside Copeland, ahead of Pattinson, no-one would've blinked an eye.
