Phlegm in overrating CD player shocker? Surely not.
Interesting question. Assume "capped" = test caps. Squad = 12. On a green pitch Astle is 12th man, on a batting pitch Wheeler. Ellis and Nicol the stock bowlers.Based on this season in isolation, if you were looking at selecting a team of uncapped under-30s to represent a NZ "A" selection for a pseudo test match, who would you pick? ...
Should make a limit of 20 wickets to exclude him....Purely by this seasons batting and bowling stats we get a team of...
BS Wilson 690 @ 57.50
SJ Murdoch 296 @ 59.20
NT Broom 592 @ 65.77
DG Brownlie 379 @ 47.37
TI Weston 428 @ 42.80
HKP Boam 215 @ 53.75 - 6 @ 40.50
CFK van Wyk 420 @ 60 21 catches 2 stumpings
N Wagner 252 @ 50.40 - 39 @ 18.84
TD Astle 179 @ 29.83 - 27 @ 27.70
K Noema-Barnett 212 @ 21.20 - 17 @ 18.47
TA Boult 107 @ 15.28 - 27 @ 21.66
12th man:
BM Wheeler 92 @ 18.40 - 22 @ 22.04
Noema's bowling figures sort of ruin the whole exercise.
Heard a couple of rumours that he's quite sharp behind the stumps. Dunno how accurate they are, but I can't recall seeing him make an obvious **** ups behind the stumps in the HRV Cup this season.Congrats Derek de Boorder on his first hundred at the first class level. I've never really been a fan but he's fashioning himself quite a decent record for a keeper batsmen at this level. Hopefully his keeping has improved just as much as his batting has.
Haven't seen him bat at First Class level, but he's dominated club cricket in Wellington for years. Word I've heard is that last year in particular the entire Wellington team thought he should be playing, except the coach, who then decided this year that he wasn't a one-day player anyway, so didn't pick him for that part of the competition. After he got that double century in the Under-23 tournament he got picked again, and since then seems to be scoring runs pretty much every game.Anyone seen Murdoch bat? Always seem to miss him when I head down. Having a pretty gun year so far
86, 104*, 23, 50, 63, 19 and right now he is on 58*
