Yeah Chu had a good reputation as a quality keeper through age group stuff. I heard Craig Cumming interview him on the radio last summer and (if memory serves) he had worked quite a bit with Warren Lees. Anyway out for 94 and 234* off 245 balls for Nick Kelly (25 4s and 9 6s). Would've been good to watch.

Interesting to see how Finn plays in this situation. Can't win the game the firebirds but can Finn block for ages which probably is not his game for now?

Surely Allen will bat like he's having an open net, three weeks away from his big season-opening clash on November 26.

No, looks like he respects the work Rachin has put into saving this game, and won't piss on that effort until he's dismissed.

Finn was educated in the most optimal of environments, so don't worry about him being gormless or unable to adapt himself to the circumstances.

Oh but I do worry about that. My favourite sports team has sucked big time ever since Conway left and the faltering little Kiwi-borns tried to take up the slack.

Cole vs Finn would be interesting. More he's off strike to Cole is better. A big shot is always round the corner otherwise.

Pretty good effort so far. I thought the game will be done and dusted by lunch. They've held on. Would be interesting to see how many balls Rachin has faced off Matt Henry.

Lennox bowled 41 overs. Firebirds spinners won't bowl that in a season at home.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Kelly really cashed in on what seems like a pretty tame surface. Always felt like a decent innings was just around the corner, can't believe it's only his second century.

Plunket Shield:

  • The Auckland Aces v Otago Volts fixture set for 15-18 November at Eden Park – Kennards Hire Community Oval in Auckland, is now postponed.
  • The Northern Districts Men v Canterbury fixture set for 15-18 November at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui will go ahead as planned with Northern Districts Men using players from districts outside the Waikato lockdown area.

Howsie did always say Bay of Plenty would be quite worthy of first-class status though. Especially if Wagner and CdG haven't already left for India by the 15th.

Have to say the Canterbury vs firebirds game is a good watch. Only 3 more overs for new ball and Henry probably can't wait to mop it all up. I'm surprised we've lasted this long.

Rachin 100 + Canterbury win would be a good day for me. The volts/stags match looking like a wee bit of a run-fest.
