It was a shame that Johann Myburgh, another player who came over when Dave Nosworthy was coaching Canterbury, shifted to England just when he was getting close to qualifying.Be nice if they gave us a KP instead of a Van Wyk.
Myburgh quitting NZ for England | Stuff.co.nzMyburgh's departure from Canterbury came after he had spent three seasons playing for the province, leaving him just one more domestic season away from being eligible to appear for New Zealand.
Judging by his performances for the Canterbury Wizards, where the stylish batsman averaged 50 at first-class level and 30 in the one-day version of the game, Myburgh had serious claims for a top-order Black Caps batting position.
Pitches got pretty flat domestically after about 2008, it's only really in recent seasons where we have seen the roads become slightly less commonplace.Nah, Myburgh would've been another van Wyk at the international level - might've produced one or two solid performances but ultimately lacked the goods to make a real go at it. The fact that he's really struggled to hang on to a spot in county cricket over the last 5 years is indicative of where he's at.
Yeah that's where Smith comes in though. A young swing bowler who is better than Hutchinson. Sears still going at a 5.13 ER against domestic U19 kids ftr.you shouldn't be losing by an innings to an auckland side missing so many first choice bowlers that batting allrounders are rolling up their sleeves for some full time work bowling 115-120kph.
Come on. Ravindra was out if his depth at the u19s. He's still just a kid.Papps

not hard ffs. after the dark ages of useless coaches like Stuart and Siddons you'd think they would learn to stop importing everyones leftovers. if you're going to import at least be good at it like Otago and ND are. you shouldn't be losing by an innings to an auckland side missing so many first choice bowlers that batting allrounders are rolling up their sleeves for some full time work bowling 115-120kph.
speaking of which what the **** is donovan grobbelaar doing at #9? i don't really get domestic selectors sometimes. im not a smart cricket person but there are some weird and downright cynical (hira to open) selectors out there.
in slightly better news, CD just fended off another 4th seamer andy ellis blitz to hold on for a draw thanks to the skipper and the lower order digging in. if young ever figures out how to turn his million 50s into big tons (yeah he was not out today) he'll stroll into the test team soon enough.
Shameful move from NZ Cricket to poach him for this game when North Otago has its first Hawke Cup defence that weekend. He was a key part of the team prior to heading away to the Under-19 WCSmith!
Edgar might be unable to track him down because Otago have locked him away.
Still well on track to average 50ish for his second season running. Given his long held status as one of the chosen ones, I reckon he's on track to be in the mix for the post-Baz team (once Nicholls inevitably gets binned).if young ever figures out how to turn his million 50s into big tons (yeah he was not out today) he'll stroll into the test team soon enough.
It might be time for Edgar to take a punt on Weerasundara coming good if given a chance. Alternatively, open with Pollard and bring in ex-South African under 19 player Malcolm Nofal to stiffen the middle order. Not to stereotype, but he'll probably have that South African mental toughness.Come on. Ravindra was out if his depth at the u19s. He's still just a kid.
