Nice to see McAndrew getting a gig, but is he really better than the next best available Auckland quick?

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
What do you folks make of the Firebirds side just announced to play Otago? Fraser Colson making a come back. Scott Borthwick getting a go very first season in Wellington and so is Matt Bacon. Again barring Fraser, where are the locals? The local club cricketers not good enough?

That's one of the worst domestic line ups I've ever seen, narrowly beating Canterbury's ford trophy final XI.

there are worse posted above, like canterbury picking all their bowlers and allrounders and auckland picking all their batsmen and allrounders.

they could share resources to make two proper teams.

Borthwick can bat pretty well these days anyway. should provide some backbone.

The Plunket Shield can do better than McAndrew IMO. He's at least a successful Australian park cricketer as opposed the random blokes Wellington usually pick up, though.

That's often because they aren't sought and just blow into our club system and do well, a lot of the time. Only ND (with its Aussie CEO's connections) recruit the fringe NSW seamers, like Dutch Brett Lee.

Jayde Herrick says hello.

A better bowler than McAndrew, to be fair.

Also 2010 tbf, and Herrick didn't keep the promising local boy DeWayne Bowden out of the attack.

Should I take the $11 being offered at Paddy Power for Otago to win the Plunket Shield? There's trouble in (agribusiness) paradise....

Hira cut by Canterbury, Latham to go under the knife | Stuff.co.nz

"He's averaging early 20s and we probably wanted a bit more out of him from that," explained coach Gary Stead.

"We just felt we needed a change, it'll be an opportunity for others.

"Ronnie's likely to spend some time up in Auckland where his wife is. That's where he'll go initially and if we need Ronnie back then we know where he is," he said.

Latham was released from the Black Caps ODI to play Auckland after acting as cover for Brendon McCullum but he will have an operation to 'clean out' an ankle after the two-test series with Australia.

Cole McConchie has been named in the top order to play the competition leaders, he will bat at No.4 the role usually occupied by Nicholls or McClure, who suffered a groin injury while fielding during last weekend's heavy one-day final loss to the Central Stags.

Stead was hopeful McClure could be back for the clash with Otago in early March while Nicholls - who was named in the T20 World Cup squad - may be available before the Indian tournament depending on whether Ross Taylor's side strain rules him out of the tests against Australia.

Feel free to send Edgar my tirelessly compiled A-Z video, if you're a concerned Wellington supporter.

Tell him to move fast to snap up the good prospects before ND muscles in.
I was going to suggest a neighbourly raid for Jordi Barret, but, Navin Patel seriously has something about him.

Another CD logjam forming.

I was thinking that with Randell apparently injured, that maybe they cant. But then watched Kippax's video and wonder what Ravlic is doing?

Surely more Warren Barnes's are out there in Auckkand club cricket?

Navin Patel even studies in Wellington I think. I'd like Otago to keep believing in the future of Duffy so we can pinch Nathan Smith.

I was already impressed with Smith, and I watched the televised U19 game v India but missed the first 2 overs or so of us bowling. Was that seriously his first 3 balls of the innings? What a champ!
