"At 251-7 with Blundell firing on 73 and the Firebirds needing 38 more runs off 22 balls to win, the wicketkeeper-batsman went for a lofted off drive but saw the back half of his bat snap away from the front half and go catapulting in the air - the ball landed in the hands of Aces skipper Michael Bates at deep long off." So much for the benefit of modern day bats :P You can see it clearly on the video scorecard

Yeah Nuttall's new ball spell wasn't too flash at all. Nice speedy surface, but it was left to Jamieson to hit an economical line and length.

Jamieson will end up as a bloody good limited overs bowled for New Zealand one day I'd say. Like Nuttall stuck playing A cricket for way too long though.

Isn't that often the case though? At the domestic level you don't need to be special to be effective, just good, and there's less difference between a good player and a special player in domestix.

So teams understandably hang on to good players if they can instead of potentially moving a kid up before they're ready.

If Canterbury can get away with it, good on them. I'm more having a go at the likes of Wellington who could snap these young guys up, promise them, one, a contract, and two, a really good chance to play. Instead they're busy collecting used goods from around the domestic scene.

Apart from Arnel and Papps, don't think there are any other "used goods" that Wgtn have picked up in the last few seasons. Verma and McEwan were 23-24 when they joined Wgtn.

Yeah Hesson has already mentioned Tastle by name as a player he wants to have a look at.

Good it's stupid, I've watched about half of one since they started doing it
I guess televised Ford Trophy in November would make Sky laugh, seeing the whole idea is to keep the ferals and the short attention spanners subscribed after rugby and league finishes. Maybe NZA will need to be assembled for Friday night T20s against the BBL sides or something.
