Kippax has the right answer. Anendra Singh is a seriously strange writer.
He's a seriously strange bloke. When there's international games in Napier, he sits away from the rest of the media - either in a box by himself or in the corner. The CD players all know his number and fear death every time he rings.

He's a shocking writer. He did a piece on the Warriors' 'bro culture' the other week that went on more tangents than there were paragraphs.

But he's been good for women's cricket in the region, given his daughter plays for the *insert CD women's team name here*.

Will there be loads of debutants and other yoofs next round?

Finnie going to get a game? I recall seeing him get a big score for Otago A post U19WC stink out? Nathan Smith to debut?

Randell to get a debut for the Dorkland dibbly dobblers? Phillips to get a crack?

Leopard?
Randell plays for the wrong club, never going to get a look in ;)

Junket Shield wouldn't be a junket if it didn't give needless, all-expenses-paid excursions to middle management.

And by 'middle management' I mean the Craig Smith battlers, who have been serving their (already eliminated from contention) team decently, but will never bring any joy to anyone who follows NZ cricket, outside their immediate circle.

Wait, I thought this was the final round. One more to go next week.

Expecting the mass give youth a chance round to happen then (except by Auckland, just 'cause).

Check out Blair Soper, must have gone bush for a couple seasons (judging by his hair).

Bennett's wickets look great, has changed his action a fair bit, looking a bit look Mitch from the front there, although not as smooth.

Have you seen some FC players get noticeably better off their pads as you've followed their careers, Cribbage? Or do you think that's a Sinclair-like facet of Will Young we're probably just going to have to get used to.

Again. A crazy green wicket at Dunedin.

I'm all for the wickets not being roads. But at this time of year groundsmen should be pushing the dustbowl option.

Way to raise generations of one dimensional cricketers.

Enjoy, Mark Craig. Yours sincerely, the dinosaur ghosts of groundsmen past.

Yeah, could cut the Shield to five rounds if you're going to just green it up in March like this.

Spend March having some Jimmy Neesham XI vs. BJ Watling XI matches in India or something, maybe with a $50,000 prize at stake, to make sure they don't have that completely limp and unenthused, North Island vs. South Island feeling to the play.

The most impressive set of wickets for Duffy in quite a while/ever there.

Verma seems to have recovered a little of the zip that was lacking after injuries.

Thought Ian McPeake sounded like a 34-year-old trundler but no, I see he's 24 and has a bit of height and pace.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Saw a picture of Soper in the ODT today and thought he hadn't been out injured but maybe on a 2 year long acid trip in central.

Has the most uncomplicated action. Something about it I like.

Popli looking to lock in a rare 1000+ red ball season this afternoon (needs 58).

The first since Papps was on everyone's radar, for a third and final recall -

Speaking of playing off your pads, many players have shown that you can move across your stumps to access or better defend balls outside off, if you are incredible off your pads. Don't think Popli is quite in that bracket, falls over a little much to reliably middle the balls on leg.

Then there's the fact that despite moving across his bat arc is always towards the onside. That ball at the 23-second mark was the perfect example, the perfect Guptill.

Still a fantastic season from the guy and if he can keep up that rate of improvement then should push for an NZ spot.
