Well the series starts basically after the SC final next week.

I reckon this series will be used a chance for the probables and possibles to get themselves a seat to England as the non certainties to go.

I will watch with interest.

The NZ 'A' team will surely be named in the next couple of days.

Unlike previous years, the selectors will have quite a large pool to select from.

Here is the Sri Lanka 'A' squad:

Not too many well-known players in there..looks like they're trying to give a few of their promising players a go in overseas conditions.

1 Naveed Nawaz (capt), 2 Thilina Kandamby, 3 Ian Daniel, 4 Shantha Kalavitigoda, 5 Pradeep Hewage, 6 Jehan Mubarak, 7 Bathiya Perera, 8 Chamara Silva, 9 Hasantha Fernando, 10 Prasanna Jayawardene (wk), 11 Dinuk Hettiarachchi, 12 Lasith Malinga, 13 Mario Villavarayen, 14 Tharanga Lak****ha, 15 Charitha Buddhika, 16 Dinusha Fernando

Harris won't make the NZ 'A' test team...I think I read a while ago that Harris decided to just concentrate on making the NZ ODI team so therefore I doubt he'll be anywhere near the 5 dayers against S.L 'A'.

I don't mean to offend anyone, but with the amount of International Tours on at the moment, is there any real need to top an A Tour?

Whats that got to do with international tours?

'A' tours are used to promote depth. What do these players have to do apart from teh summer.

But is that really any justification for topping this topic when there are a lot of International tours going at the moment (that are also topped)

Test and ODI tours at least have some relevance to the whole Cricketing World - 'A' Tours don't really have as much IMO.

I personally hate these official threads and tops etc.

It means the topic about the series is condensed and all the stuff you would want to talk about it has to be squeezed into one thread.

I asked Andre to top it, and he did.

Naveed Nzwaz, Jehan Mubarak, Chamara Silva, Prasanna Jayawardene, Dinuk Hettiarachchi, Charitha Buddhika, and Dinusha Fernando have all played Tests and/or ODIs for Sri Lanka.

James topped it - I didn't want it topped. Sooner or later, we'll be topping a thread about the local under-7's match.

He is still in A squad :wow: . I remember him playing for SRL A in 1994-95 .
So he has been around for quite a few years now? Has he played SRL yet?

Most likely during or after the State Championship final which begins on March 4th.

It's not that **** aside from apart from the selection of Matthew Bell aside.

Lineup in batting order:

M Bell
J How
P Fulton
M Sinclair
H Marshall
L Vincent
J Franklin
K Mills
R Hart +
B Martin
I Butler

How and Fulton are great up and coming talents and deserve their selections, Sinclair has gotten in there because of the high amount of runs he has scored in this domestic season, while Marshall has been given a punt based on his ODI success lately. The selection of Vincent shows that the selectors have finally put him in his rightful position, in the middle-order. Franklin was the top wicket-taker in the State Championship and has been wonderful with the bat as well. Mills is a decent option in first-class cricket, he has the ability to swing the ball and has a batting average of 43. Bruce Martin has also been brilliant with the ball, somewhat the forgotten man of NZ Cricket.
