He won't be if he does warmups before the game.Blaze said:
He better be fit for tomorrow.
Even if he doesn't, he'll probably catch influenza off a shower curtain._Ed_ said:He won't be if he does warmups before the game.
I picked Akmal, but there's plenty of reasons. One of the obvious ones is that Akmal has actually played a little bit of cricket outside of the subcontinent and done okay, while Dhoni has not played anywhere else in either form of the game.adharcric said:How can you possibly take Akmal over Dhoni in ODIs?
That's true, but Akmal hasn't been such a force in ODIs. Dhoni has already made his presence felt, hell he's 5th in the ICC rankings. Akmal is clearly the better keeper and could well end up as the better test batsman as well, but there is no way I'd take him over Dhoni right now in ODIs ... Dhoni's been far too dominant.FaaipDeOiad said:I picked Akmal, but there's plenty of reasons. Definitely. I was surprised no one before me picked Pollock when I named my XI. He's still very economical and that's huge in ODIs. Pathan is also being overlooked, people seem to be underrating him because of his lack of pace but he's been devastating with the new ball and more than handy with the bat.FaaipDeOiad said:A lot of people are overlooking Pollock, I think. He's a quality ODI bowler still due to his accuracy, even if he's declined hugely in tests, and he's a good hitter as well. Certainly a better option for number 8 or so than most.
Precisely. There isn't even a hint of debate on this issue, Akmal shouldn't be in a World ODI XI as long as Sangakarra and Dhoni are there.Jono said:There's no way you'd pick Akmal ahead of Dhoni. If you don't want to select Dhoni because he hasn't played much outside the sub-continent, only Zimbabwe, then you select Sangakkara.
Dhoni and Sangakkar have, up till now, been far superior in ODIs. Far far superior.
Point is Akmal is a better wicketkeeper than both Dhoni and Sangakkara. I want a Wicket Keeper first and then a batsman and it's not like he can hold a bat. He actually bats pretty well as well.adharcric said:Precisely. There isn't even a hint of debate on this issue, Akmal shouldn't be in a World ODI XI as long as Sangakarra and Dhoni are there.

Wicketkeeping is more important in test matches and Dhoni's weakness is only when standing up, which will be for about 10 overs with this World XI. I'd take Dhoni's ability to single-handedly win the match with the bat over Akmal's sharpness with the gloves.Sanz said:Point is Akmal is a better wicketkeeper than both Dhoni and Sangakkara.
