England look overrated, and stale to me. What looked revolutionary 4 years ago looks more fickle today. I can see them getting rolled on the wrong type of wicket vs. good bowling attacks in this tournament.

They don't seem capable of re-assessing depending on conditions, which means if it's not close to perfect batting conditions they don't seem to know any other way than going hard and always relying on the 'next' guy coming in.

Another failure for Brook who averages just 21 in 7 ODIs... Still can't believe England dropped Roy for him after Brook failed to impress in that series against NZ prior to the WC.
Are you batting Roy at 4? Because that's the only way your post makes sense. Stokes comes in when fit.

England favourites still bjt from where they were Bangladesh have recovered well and on a flat deck they have a shot here

I'd bat Roy at 4 over Brook, if that's what you're asking. But obviously Stokes at 4 when fit.

Agreed. I think Bangladesh have bowled really well last few overs, but a wicket lost too many. Root needed to convert, but that is the story for a certain other thread...
Nah. Keeping the score moving was absolutely what he should have been doing rather than focusing on personal milestones. As others have said, the fact LL went first ball and Brook didn't kick on are what should be looked at.

Doesn't matter as we should win comfortably but I do think as a batting line-up having Moeen to come in at 7 would have helped us to a bigger total.

They got put into bat on a ground where teams struggled with the bat just 3 days ago. They're going to score well over 350. They won't be the last team to lose a few when the slog is on.

You'd bat Roy at 4 over Brook, really? Because I'm not even sure Roy would bat himself at 4 over Brook.

Harry does have a lot to prove in 50 over cricket though, don't think that can be disputed.

Getting past the 350 as a minimum is ok. Looks like Banglas have stuffed up by bowling their overs too slowly.

I've seen Roy hit the ball cleanly from ball 1 coming in at 3 & 4 - admittedly in T20s, so no reason at all with the experience, record & talent he'd be inferior to Brook who looks like he's baz-balled himself into knots and has lost all control.

Nah, Roy is an out-and-out opener. Past his best too so playing him in a role that doesn't suit him is a recipe for disaster.

Hang on. You can't use Roy's T20 record unless you're prepared to bring Brook's in. If so, there's not even a debate to be had.

Roy is past his best and Brook has been a sensation in Tests and T20 so far. Perhaps a bigger risk than appreciated at the time as every format is unique but it would have been a stubborn call to leave Brook out. I guarantee it would have been met with searing criticism if Roy failed.
